My child has been so happy at Garfield! The curriculum and extra curriculars are broad and great, and the teachers are fantastic. He is pushed academically, and I'm confident in the education and opportunity he's receiving, in and out of the classroom. Take a look at the college placement, and you'll get an idea of how good Garfield is. In terms of safety, my son feels very safe in the school, and I'm confident they're addressing the issues surrounding the school.

We’ve had two kids at McGilvra Elementary (one who started in 1st grade), and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The school community is warm, welcoming, and deeply supportive of students and families alike. The teachers are thoughtful and engaged, and the PTA does an incredible job enriching the school with programs, events, and resources that truly elevate the experience. It’s also just a cute, beautiful campus in the heart of the neighborhood a place our kids genuinely love going to every day.I should also add that the school aftercare program is excellent and well managed. Our kids love going there 2 days a week, get annoyed if we pick them up early, and come home with their homework done.

My child has only been at this school for one and a half months, but so far I am really happy. I've heard and read that the school had a number of challenging years in the past, but I am very happy with the community the new principal seems to be building. My child looks forward to going to school every day and says that the students and teachers are nice. She came in with friends already, but has made new friends quickly, too. She has told me about 1 or 2 pretty typical middle school behavioral incidents, and the response from the staff seemed quick and appropriate (not too harsh, but also not ignoring the matter). My child is ahead academically, so I wouldn't say that she's extremely challenged, but she is definitely learning and is enjoying what she's learning. I appreciate the communication from the principal and teachers, and the positive changes they have already made and plan to continue.

This is my son's first year of middle school and I was uncertain how the transition from elementary school would go. Despite Meany being a large school my son seems to have adapted to the environment fairly seamlessly. The teachers seem committed and engaged and I can confidently say it has vastly exceeded my expectations. The level of academic rigor seems quite satisfactory, he's learning a lot, has made new friends and without exception they all seem to be great kids. I had a lot of angst about the start of middle school but it's been much more straightforward than I expected.
