About this House

Bright, Spacious Berkeley Hills Traditional With Patio and Backyard, 2 blocks to John Hinkle Park

This homey 3BR/3BA classic home is perfectly situated between Tilden, Solano Ave shops, and North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto. Its great location, classic design and spacious rooms make it the perfect place to call home!

The red front door is set back from the street, behind a huge sloped lawn with peekaboo bridge views. From the entrance and large foyer, a large living room makes up the lower left half of the house, with patio doors that open out to the rear yard. A sweeping staircase leads to the second story and all three bedrooms of the home. On the right of the foyer is the formal dining room, which adjoins the kitchen and side office area, with a 2nd set of doors leading out to the back patio and yard, plus indoor access to the garage. Hardwood floors extend throughout the entire house.

The large living room has a working fireplace with brick trim that anchors the left wall. A street-facing bay window and french doors that open onto the backyard flood the room with light and a wall of built-in shelves offer vintage-inflected storage for showcasing books or sharing your favorite mementos.

The white steel-framed door opens onto a spacious, terraced yard. There is a patio area along the back wall of the house, easily accessed from both the living room and the kitchen, perfect for indoor/outdoor living - breakfast al fresco in the morning and smores in the evening over a firepit! The yard slopes up from the patio, with mature trees shading the upper yard and steps that lead up to terraced play and garden areas.

Loop back into the house and re-enter through the bonus room. Tiled, and surrounded by windows, it would make a great sunroom, office, or reading room! There are two additional doors off this room, one leads to the attached garage. A full laundry center, with washer dryer, folding area, and storage, is located in the garage - plus room for a car and other outdoor gear.

The kitchen is lined with cabinetry. It features a deep, double-compartment sink, gas range, and dishwasher. A window above the sink overlooks the backyard, the view making dishes less of a chore. A door to the left of the stove leads back into the foyer and to the downstairs half-bathroom in the hallway, while a door to the left of that connects to the formal dining room.

The central dining room has a bay window that looks out onto the front lawn and it's the perfect gathering place for dinner parties and holidays.

From the foyer, a staircase leads to the 2nd floor of the house. A central hallway at the top of the stairs connects all three bedrooms. There is an updated full bath at the top of the stairs with shower over tub. The hall bath separates the primary bedroom from the other two upstairs bedrooms. On the left of the bathroom are two sunny, spacious bedrooms, one overlooking the front yard and one overlooking the rear. The front bedroom offers peekaboo views of the Bay. The rear bedroom peeks out over the backyard. Both rooms are large, with big closets and warm hardwood floors.

The primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom and powder room is to the right of the hall bathroom. Windows overlooking the front and side yards fill the space with light. The room spans the entire width of the house - plenty of space for a king size bed plus additional office or reading nook. There is a dressing room off the main sleeping area with a built-in vanity under a window, and a double-door closet with a mirror hanging inside. The fully-tiled bathroom has a pedestal sink and walk-in shower.

Wonderful North Berkeley location - tucked into a peaceful, leafy street just 3 blocks to Cragmont Elementary, John Hinkle Park, and all three Rock parksI You're just a short trip to the Gourmet Ghetto, all the great shops of Solano Ave, and El Cerrito BART station (plus other major transportation arteries!) Not to mention being a stone's throw to all of the great East Bay park systems. It has the best of all worlds!
