I have personally never seen such a unwelcoming school in my life. They do not make new students and families feel a part of the community nor do they at all make new students feel welcome. We have been to two school functions with no one saying even so much as a Hi. When we attempt to engage we are looked at like we are aliens or beneath everyone else there.My grandson unfortunately attends this school because of district policy and he has not only lost his enthusiasm for school and learning but he cries everyday that he is there.Teachers do not help students who struggle and during testing they are rushed and then yelled at.The students are not the only ones who bully and treat the kids with unkindness the adults are just as bad!My grandson is never sent home paperwork about functions or papers to help him study or prepare for tests. He was very excited about a talent show and again nothing was sent home so he was too late to sign up. He thrived and did very well when at was at Jefferson and because we moved he had to switch to Kelsey and I absolutely hate the change we see in this sweet boy. Joplin should be ashamed of Kelsey Norman

school focuses more on phones then kids vaping and doing drugs in bathrooms. There's not enough teachers who are actively at the school. not enough subs for when teachers are gone. The highschool is actively falling apart becuase they are more worried about kids social interactions with there phones more than the students grades and if they are doing drugs in the bathrooms or not

Highly qualified teachers. Students are respectful and well behaved for the most part. Positive culture.
