My husband and I graduated from Sonora hs in La Habra, moved to Whittier, our daughter graduated from Cal in 2022, and now we have 2 boys at Cal, Cal has great academies and awesome teachers, coaches. We are happy to be a condor family so glad we made the move.

Ceres was my elementary school, so it was special to have my son attend there as well. Overall, it’s a good school with great teachers, a positive culture, and an amazing PTA.However, as my son was preparing to start his fifth-grade year, we learned he had been placed in a fourth/fifth-grade combo class. It was devastating for us. When I spoke with the new principal, I felt dismissed and unsupported. She repeatedly told me that my son would be okay but did not offer any options or seem to understand my concerns as a parent.Thankfully, the district was very helpful. They listened, provided peace of mind, and explained the different options available to us. In the end, because it was my son’s last year at the school, changing schools would have been too difficult for him. He did end up being okay, but that doesn’t change how uncared for I felt during the process.My advice to parents is to remember that you have rights and should advocate for your children. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and explore your options.Overall, Ceres is a good school with dedicated teachers and a wonderful PTA. However, based on my experience with the current principal, I would hesitate to enroll another child there as long as the leadership remains the same.

We moved from a top-school to this neighborhood in 2021. Contrary to our expectations, we found Hillview Middle School to be a great school. My daughter learned much better and had a lot more support than her previous 10/10 school.
