Description

HANDSOME HEIGHTS TOWNHOUSE One of three in a row of stately Greek Revival townhouses, 14 Willow Place is listed in the city directory in 1846. It is 22.67' wide with an extension on the garden and parlor levels. A tall house, with a high stoop, it has benefited over the years from full renovation and restoration of original detail. It is comprised of a triplex, occupied by the owner, a garden floor front studio, and a large top floor one-bedroom apartment. The home has a 7-family Certificate of Occupancy but was converted to 3-family use by the current owner. There are 12 rooms, 3 kitchens, 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Square footage is approximately 4,000 sf, not including the cellar. It will be delivered vacant. In excellent condition, the home is filled with custom millwork, including pocket doors in the parlor, pocket shutters, and custom-made double hung windows. Chimneys were fully rebuilt, and there are 3 wood-burning fireplaces, one in each of the apartments. Original wide board pine flooring was preserved in the main rooms and hallways and on stair treads. Light streams down the common hallway from a skylight in the roof bulkhead and windows on each landing. East-West orientation and large custom windows fill the interiors with light. There is a charming, landscaped garden just outside the triplex dining room. An amazing roof area, reached by the full-width staircase, offers views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines, glimpses of NY Harbor and Willow Place houses. When trees are not in leaf, there is a view all the way to the Red Hook Cruise Terminal and the arrival and departure of the Queen Mary 2. Serene Willow Place is a quiet enclave and one of the most charming spots in Brooklyn Heights.
