"There are a few parks, and decent schools for our children. For the most part it’s quiet and calm. There are a few groceries stores in the neighborhood that you can shop at as well as a family dollar that’s open till 10 pm. I believe it’s a good place to live and the families in the WoodLawn community are working families."
  • MomOf2
"Daycares in this area are overpriced and small. There are plenty of parks nearby though and can meet new neighbors "
  • Lakeesha H.
"This area is one big grave yard! The energy is heavy and negative all the way to the elementary school. Nothing but violence and death no place for children at ALL!!!!"
  • Brittany C.
"I’ve lived in Woodlawn for 6 years now and it’s gentrifying more and more. I’ve noticed rent prices increasing for very cramped apartments. I don’t mind a diverse neighborhood, I actually welcome it, but not at the expense of not being able to afford a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment on this side of town. Overall, my block is quiet and I love the area, but feel that I’ll be pushed out sooner or later. "
  • Natasha R.
"I’ve lived in this area for five years and I really love the community. I am hopeful that I can find my own condo in the area this year just so I can stay in the area."
  • Chandra E.
"I used to live there years ago and it was a nice area. now that I visit my daughter its become diverse and cultural cultural cultural.."
  • Drbcaldwelldc
"Lots of dogs in the neighborhood of all shapes and sizes. Easy access to University of Chicago and greenery for dogs to run around in."
  • Rani P.
"Close proximity to Jackson Park, the Bark Park (dog training area in Jackson Park) and access to the lake front."
  • kayennen
"East Woodlawn is becoming the hot spot in Chicago. New amenities and attractions are planned. Close to lake and Hyde Park which is also increasing retail, etc."
  • Drbcaldwelldc
"Close to U of C, lakefront, hospital, public transportation (bus and Green Line) and soon-to-be grocery store (Jewel)."
  • Earnestine C. H.
"Great location, close to downtown and public transportation. Neighborhood is up and coming. Overall good community. "
