The three functioning wood burning fireplaces with original woodwork and tile make for cozy evenings during U.P. winters. The third floor has been fully renovated for a kids/teens rec space, family room, office, workout space, or any other use! The electrical and plumbing systems have been updated from the basement to the attic. Closed cell spray foam and dense pack cellulose insulation in the walls on all three floors and the basement keep the heat bill down. The chimneys were rebuilt in 2008 and the roof was replaced with lifetime shingles in 2009. The location is just as appealing as the home itself; the spacious corner lot is walking distance to parks, Lake Superior, and downtown. Home is a must see in person piece of Marquette history!

    "This is a safe neighborhood, well maintained properties, nestled into the foothills of Marquette Mountain. Some lots abut a green strip with frequent sightings of deer and a variety of migratory birds during the summer months. Downtown is more than a short walk but is a reasonable bike ride away (warm months). Otherwise public transport is available from the front door. Snow plowing is excellent on Altamont and you can always get out during winter if you keep the foot of your driveway clear. Marquette has just the right amount of tourism to support a variety of sporting events and festivals during all seasons but not so much tourism that it feels like a congested bigger tourist area like Traverse City. There are a least three local micro-brewries, several good restaurants, and always entertainment, especially on weekends. Marquette is growing just enough to support continuous improvements and developments of its parks and attractions and there are at least two (three star type) hotels and along with a number of nice chain hotels for visitors. Downtown becomes almost magical in the wintertime with its snow-capped sandstone facades and "lit-up" trees. Being situated on a bay of Lake Superior makes Marquette one the the most picturesque small towns in the Midwest. "
