Description

Hello,

The master tenant of my three bedroom apartment and his girlfriend will be moving out at the end of August. Although I will miss my friends, I will not miss their mess. The apartment will be completely empty and clean at the time of your move in date, down to the window curtains. Please make note of this when viewing the pictures.

About me:
I'm a down to earth and easy going forty-four year old man. I'm pretty clean and tidy. I've been working as a server at the same restaurant for about 15 years and I typically work five nights a week. When I'm not at work I'm probably reading at a coffee shop, but I also love surfing, taking photos, riding my bike, and car camping in my mini-van.

Also, and most importantly, I'm a bit of a minimalist and very averse to clutter. It's important to me that common spaces are organized and that counter spaces in the kitchen and bathroom are reasonably clear and things are put away. It makes cleaning easier and life so much nicer. I wouldn't say that I'm extreme or anything, but my current roommates are really just not compatible with me in this way. I was planning on moving out, but they ended up buying a house so I've decided to stay and try do find some like minded housemates.

About you:
I'm looking for two responsible, clean, cool adults capable of maintaining a peaceful, tidy, drama free, and fun home.

About the house:
Its a duplex and we are in the upper unit. There are actually four rooms, but one is rather small and used for storage. Then there are two large rooms and a medium sized room. The biggest faces Alcatraz Ave and is pretty noisy. The next largest room is in the rear of the house and is the most quiet. The last room is medium sized and also located in the rear of the house away from the street.

The house is a bit rough around the edges and could use a fresh coat of paint, but as far as amenities go we have a good deal. There is a washer/drier in our unit, dish washer, nice back porch and a cute back yard. The location is great and super walkable. Street parking is easy. It's close to everything you could need. Groceries, cafes, restaurants, bars, gyms, and bart are all close by. San Pablo Park is near by too if you need some open space and sunshine.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Trulia. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources. This description is from July 28, 2025

"I’ve lived here for 27 years and it keeps getting better. Berkeley bowl west, city sports gym, ucsf/john Muir clinic, new restaurants, and lovely parks."
  • Trulia User
"It’s lovely, lots of young families, big park. Close to downtown Berkeley and to San Francisco. Not too snooty. "
  • Stacey M.
"Houses have a lot of character. Not all alike. Walkable restaurant, breweries, cafes. Great public transit to city on AC transit or casual carpool. Some people keep chickens, goats or bees. Nearby public tennis courts and park."
  • Tonja_12000
"The Fourth of July at the Berkeley Marina every year attracts hundreds of people and it’s such a great event"
  • Fiona K.

"southwest berkeley is a nice mix of people, activities, heritage, newness and has its own distinctive east bay flavor"
  • CT
"My family has lived in this area for 50 years. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, extremely friendly neighbours, you feel like u r living in nature but you are a 10 minute walk to major shops and restaurants on Solano. I’m at peace her"
  • Jason.rzepka
"west berkeley is an appealing neighborhood -- largely walkable, with character, lots of amenities nearby. biggest knocks are the cool breeze off the bay, bart isn't nearby and you can't easily access everyday items like milk or toilet paper."
  • Annawilson517
"35 mins door to door to downtown SF via BART from Ashby Station. Easy bike parking and typically car spaces at Ashby if you arrive by 845am"
  • JP
"The walks one can take through the Berkeley Hills keeps one focused on beauty and inner peace because you are surrounded by the natural world of redwoods, live oak trees hundreds of years old, soaring birds, extraordinary light at sunset, and did I say beauty. Truly amazing weather as well. Best place in country to live well if you can afford it"
  • Lisa L.
"This is a diverse neighborhood, w/families, singles, and older people. It is close to public transportation, a large park (dogs, tennis, ball games, rec center) and an excellent full-service market. Public school 3 blocks away. Lots of community involvement, block parties, etc. Close to a main thoroughfare yet actual street traffic is light."
