2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJohnson is a school with great potential, unfortunately this potential will not be realized for another 10 years. I would most definitely send my child here, but only because I want them to become street smart before entering college. I can attest to the quality of education Johnson provides to it's students, my family has had hundreds of Johnson graduates. The East Side community is the only thing holding this school together, so if you're comfortable with that mentality, then this is the school for you. If not, then I would look else where. The East Side has an extreme sense of identity, most of which has been lost or misconstrued into selfish pride on the current generations attending the school. Students with little supervision at home will struggle here! They will become subject to adult issues very rapidly and need much more attention than the school can afford. Get your child into the ROTC program! They may be ostracized by their peers a bit, but you won't regret it when they aren't repeating high school courses in college. Trust me on that! Some of the finest students in the city represent Johnson, but the same can be said about poorest performing students.Other Review13y ago3 Reviews - Battle Creek Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is special needs and has been beat up for it at this school! Kids try to get her to say and do awful things, teachers get upset that she is not Neuro typical and do not stick to her IEP. There were a couple kind teachers but they did not makeup for how awful this school is. My daughter repeated everything she hears she started cussing and using words she’s never said in her life so that she could be accepted. She eats alone at lunch and gets scolded for being herself. They don’t seem to understand what special needs require and do not have sped classes for mild to moderate. Do not bring your child here! She was in danger, tons of work thrown at her with judgement when she didn’t understand, no one knew she was being bullied, no one called me or informed me, if it wasn’t for those few teachers idk how my daughter would’ve survived. Worst school she’s ever been to by far!Parent Review6mo ago4 Reviews - Hazel Park Preparatory Academy

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible school. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE! They feed them week old food, same thing every day, the food is inedible some days. They teachers are rude, and uneducated. The science teacher is not a science teacher. The "baccalaureate" is not in fact a baccalaureate. my kids went there for 4 years and never learned any Spanish while taking it every year, or music either. They think putting on a movie in Spanish is teaching. The teachers are mean, uneducated, overworked. They do not grade papers, They do not correct the kids when they get something wrong on an assignment, which in turn makes them learn NOTHING. My kids are so far behind after spending years there and i feel so bad for the kids still remaining in that school. It needs to be shut down. Contact the superintendent if you haven't already if you have kids attending this school. This principal needs to be held accountable, and where is all the funding going? it is surely not going into the school at all. Also they do not have security in their parking lot. They have an older teacher directing traffic and no one even asking for proof of identity when picking up the kids. don't even get me started on the front staff. DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE.Parent Review4mo ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near 1301 7th St E.

"Lots of my neighbors have dogs. My whole block is millennial first time home buyers who have a dog or a cat. We often help each other with our pets"

"Too much petty crime, the last year or so has been trending more and more towards more violent incidents. Anyone trying to earn and save to get out of here likely gets robbed and winds up having to live here in this stupid cycle a little longer. Best to just avoid it all together if you’re looking at property here. "

"Great neighborhood for dog owners. The park is close. I grew up here, moved away and came back. It’s a nice little neighborhood that nobody knows about.....yet "

"I find the Trulia crime map accurate for my area. Quality of neighborhoods can change block to block. Look for areas with lower crime and less rental property for children to be able to connect with more stable neighbors. "

"I would say it used to be a good neighborhood however now crime rate went up. Shootings and thieves are going around to close to home. "

"I have lived here for years and find that the neighborhood is safe and friendly. Ultimately, the neighborhood looks out for each other and it is a great area to raise a family with young kids."

"Visiting from Canada, it is easy to see the benefits of Dayton’s Bluff and St. Paul, Mn. One highlight is the close proximity to schools and bussing. That, and the ability to walk to a variety of pub trivia locales (where I personally tend to thrive)"
