"Port Hueneme is growing and it’s becoming very family oriented. There’s also also a project to a beautiful parking near Winnie."
  • Trulia User
"There is nothing good to write about my neighborhood. I cannot wait to move to a quieter and safer neighborhood were I feel more at home. "
  • Clara_arreola
"I love my community, always well maintained. Close to the beach and lots of fun places to go. Streets are always clean, nice neighborhood."
  • Janet R.
"Well let’s see a live three minutes away from my job. So I do most of my shopping and stuff input we near me so I don’t commute to far."
  • Zeyad Z.
"People walk their dogs all the time, theres specific areas set up for dog walking purposes as well. "
  • George S.
"The commute is fine there is some traffic in the afternoon and occasionally in the morning however there is hardly ever any traffic accidents"
  • Aguirredaisym
"Traffic is not that heavy just a little in the mornings when ppl are found to work or school and around 3pm when kids are out and work hours are over for some. "
  • Alfredo P.
"It’s Port Hueneme. Best little city in California with fantastic weather. It’s in between all major city’s (Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, ect.) but tucked away from all of them. Also a very well kept cleaned community. "
  • Marcos L.
"It’s a good neighborhood, very Latino. Good restaurants, quiet, close to the beach and excellent weather "
  • Marcos L.
"Lots of homeless in the area, yet, nice neighborhood to live in. It gets ugly as you get far from the beach"
  • Janismc5
"Lots of dog owners here! Great dog walk places here and access to good dog parks in Oxnard and Camarillo nearby. Dogs are loved here. "
  • Christin B.
"Great area. Tons of amenities within walking distance. Groceries, restaurants, my bank, pharmacies, etc. If you don’t want to travel far for most of the things you need, you don’t have to. Mostly a safe feeling atmosphere. Some transient activity, but that seems to be unavoidable anywhere you go. It’s definitely not nearly as bad as other areas "
  • Sheryl M.
"There’s a lot of people with dogs here in my area, however, my landlord doesn’t want me to keep mine so I’m waiting on a call back from the Humane Society to see if they can temporarily house my dog."
  • Katgirl826
"It is a small City with great amenities. Neighbors watch out for each other. The weather is great and we have one of the prettiest beaches in Southern California. "
  • 1speedyron
"The fact our community is special because we don’t have signage at our entrance and still not using LED lamps along our streets "
  • Valerieann1331
"20 minutes to the 101 or backroads Hueneme road to las Posas not to many options, Hueneme road has less traffic in the morning."
  • David P.
"Great neighborhood but lately there’s a lot of gang activity, graffiti, and homeless people. Nice and close to the beach. The good thing is that we have a local police station nearby. Not very crowded and is a nice place to live. Another bad point is that Ventura Rd gets really crowded from 4:00-6:00 PM every week day, including Saturdays. "
  • John A.
"It’s a diverse neighborhood comprised of mostly single houses. People are friendly and tend to watch out for each other. Most of the original homes were built sixty years ago although there is a sprinkling of newer construction. Generally the houses and yards are nicely maintained. "
  • Triplesec346
"good beach side neighborhoods, some more safe than others. overall, a beautiful place to live. the weather is perfect year round. "
  • Lisar0111
"Light traffic even on the busiest of mornings. Private street and alley ways. Lots of neighborhood parking. "
  • Katgirl826
"I lived here for 2 years. I love being 2 blocks from a beautiful Beach. I have great neighbors and everyone in the area is friendly. Walking on the beach boardwalk everyday is one of my favorite things to do. The local restaurants are fun and really good. Just a cool Little beach town. "
  • Kellie R.
"Love this beach community so much and everyone we meet is so nice. Tons of people with dogs. Walk to the lighthouse is beautiful. Can see the sunset every night."
  • Colmenerochristina
"I’ve lived here for over 15 years. For the most part the neighbors are pretty decent . Their are a few that we could do without but hey we don’t live in a perfect world. We do have to many cars and not enough parking in the neighborhood sometimes you got to park a few blocks away if your not home by 5 pm.."
  • User12345
"I used to live here for nearly 20 years. In that time, we've had horrible neighbor after neighbor. Loud music from homes and cars constantly, very public and very loud domestic disputes. Kids run wild and are always screaming or darting into the street for the ice cream truck. Car alarms are always being set off, and if you walk around, you'll hear the familiar chirp of a smoke alarm that needs a new battery. It's everywhere. There's always some sort of house party going on or just a bunch of homies hanging out en masse in front of their house (and yours too, if you're lucky!). Oh and if you live next to an empty unit? You better believe that attracts kids that are up to no good. Holidays are the worst, especially when the 4th is round the corner. People are always setting off fireworks in the street, on the sidewalks and near cars. And it always starts in June. Oh, and gangs. My breaking point was when someone started shouting "COLONIA!" at 7 on a Sunday morning and the shooting that followed a few nights later. There is now a house with bullet holes in it and tagging on the sidewalk that accompanied it. Don't live here. Don't even visit."
