5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI really do want to rate it higher but this school has non stop issues. There were multiple lockdowns in one year, not telling the student or parents what the reason was for them. The busses are messed up although I would blame that more or the district. There has been multiple instances where the bus has completely passed me at my stop or just never came. It's not ALL bad though, I think the school does care about their students. They just weren't prepared for the influx of kids this year which does suck. The teachers are well qualified and actually committed to helping students unlike other schools I've been at. The school also does a lot to help us explore options for after graduation. My only issues are that it's just so disorganized. During the first couple of weeks for this school year, I didn't have a seat in two of my classes. So overall I think it's probably not a school that should be your first option but it's good enough, better than a lot of Arizona schools.Student Review2y ago - Westar Elementary School

When we toured the school with 3 of our children, all different grades, Cameo walked us around campus, showed us a few different classrooms, and wasn't exactly responsive to questions. When asked about bullying, she responded with "the policy is on the wall". They don't have any programs that encourage leadership for girls. When asked about sports, they have football. However, when asked if girls can play football, "well, no. We don't encourage that. Football is for boys." Yet they have no programs targeted toward girls, girl empowerment, or self leadership for girls, much less sports. I was very put off by this school, and have decided to put my children in a school where they will thrive. The children at this school didn't appear happy, and most walked with their heads down. "A lot of people decorate there homes very nicely for the holidays evenHalloween is fun for me once again with my kids and grandkids We all walk the neighborhood for Halloween and enjoy the fun festive decor at different homes in the neighborhood And we enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights at Christmas time as well I’ve lived here for almost 2 years now and we really like it My son and his family have lived in Goodyear for over 11 years now and they love it in Goodyear "

"We have been here since 1972… Not even the same place. It used to be a very small town where everybody knew everybody, now nobody talks to each other because they’re all new. Most of the new neighbors are not friendly… They want to be left alone, as do we, but we had friendly relations with all the neighbors that lived here beside us for 50 years before they all passed away. There is so much more traffic going up and down our street that neighbors are moving out because the new neighborhoods are using this little area for a cut through. We don’t even have street lights! Every neighbor out here had to pay for the pavement that is running up and down our street… We are county Island, not City, therefore, the city pays for nothing, and the roads are being all torn up with speeders, who have no concern for our neighborhood."

"Live right by the new Goodyear recreation center and it is great. It also has a wonderful park with pickleball courts, tennis courts and basketball courts. Great area for grilling as well. "
