great teachers give extra special care and attention to my son.

In 1979 Cameron County was a terrific school, now it is focused on what it has not what they teach or how they do it. Even now there are wonderful teachers but with retirement incentives and the administrations manipulations the good teachers are almost gone. Poor hiring policies and lack of teacher accountability has taken its toll. Most recently the administration announced the "answer" to poor standardized test scores is more homework. If the student doesn't leave the class understanding the lesson then homework will not help!! Current district policy is 10 minutes of homework per night starting in K and increasing by 10 minutes per night for each grade thereafter and some elementary grades assign detention for missing three or more assignments in a year. Now they want to increase homework instead of looking into why students aren't learning the material. If affordable internet was available where I live all of my children would be homeschooled
