5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe people in the system (educators, their support staff and counselors) are fantastic. They are most important. 5 stars. The course offerings, student support, special education, all seem very good. There are some weaknesses I found in computer science and music. 4 stars. The upper admin staff (principals, etc...) are meh. I rate them 2 stars. The biggest reason for this is the turnover is ridiculous. Something keeps them from sticking around.Facilities at MHS are awful. When you walk into the building you feel like you went back in time to the 1950s or something. Some of the hallways and other areas are poorly lit. There are often structural issues with staircases, flooding and other infrastructure issues. Everything in there is old and worn out. Counselors sometimes have meetings with staff, students, and parents in closets because of lack of space. Or, if the closet is already taken, you have to find a desk and drag it into the hall to have your meeting there. If there happens to be a carpet it's old and severely worn out. This is supposed to be an affluent community, but yet the kids get the terrible facilities. It's embarrasing. I feel bad for the kids and teachers that have to go there every single day. They all deserve better. This building needs the wrecking ball 100%. 1 star or less at best. The saddest part of this is Montclair is a fantastic community. School taxes are crazy high for what your kids get, however.Parent Review1y ago - Bradford School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had high hopes for Bradford but the education was mediocre, the PTA is barely engaged and new kids struggle to acclimate well due to "clicks" (in 2nd grade). There is also a significant imbalance male / female ratios - far less girls in the glass than boys. The teachers appear to go through the motions but are not really engaged in differentiated learning - all kids regardless of ability are treated in the same monotonous tone. Don't get me started on the limited "outdoor time" - kids need to play and wiggle outside!Parent Review6y ago - Edgemont Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur kids and family have had a great experience at Edgemont. The teachers and principal are dedicated and outstanding. Our kids love school and are learning well. Love the magnet...creates strong foundation for independent thinkers and confident learners! Too bad more emphasis isn't given to the comments of the parents and students when assigning the "greatness" rating of the schools on this site??? The test scores are swayed by so many things. This is the most progressive elementary school in our district and tends to have the highest testing 'opt out' rate in the district, not to mention it is the most diverse and has a higher percentage of students whose native language is not English . The test scores listed don't do it justice. Edgemont is a great school!Parent Review5y ago - Glenfield Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIve went to glenfield for 2 years so far and being there is terrible the teachers treat you horribly ive had a teacher who used profanity multiple times during teaching in my 6th grade year which is not a good example for us student who we’re probably 13 and 12 at the time. my peers are very disrespectful and disturbing, and the principal just doesnt care when it is reported. ive been bullied my classmates and even my teachers because of my behavior. but my favorite teacher ms shannon never failed to make me laugh and have a better day at school though.Student Review3mo ago - Hillside Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is a cluster of tension. Teachers don’t trust teacher. Student often tell on each other like thier is some type of reward offered. Everyone is stabbing each other in the back to please queen b. Northeast has a few good teacher but it seems like every last one of them is in the move get out and the principle has the tea cupOther Review5y ago - Watchung Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers have been amazing with engaging our daughter across a variety of subjects. They communicate often and clearly with us and are a pleasure to deal with day to day. We have been very impressed at the advancement we have seen in math and reading in 3 years.Parent Review5mo ago - Charles H Bullock School
