1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDurfee Prek-8th grade is on its way to greatness. We have a new principal that seems to have the students best interest in mind. The school is an older school, however many updates have been made. Some updates include fresh painted walls, a welcome center at the entrance of the school and decorated walls that encourage what the students are being taught. This school has received negative reviews in past time but I beg to differ. We have great leadership and teachers that care about the students. The current graduation rate is 89%; the drop-out rate has moved from 48% in 2010 to 14.9% in 2013. The composite ACT score has moved from 11.38 in 2010 to 13.83 in 2013, with a substantial anticipated increase for the 2014 student cohort. In addition, Central has the highest student achievement growth in the EAA Performance Series Assessment out of all 15 EAA Schools, with 1 1/2 years of average growth for students in reading and math in all grade levels. "New development in the community. Clean & safe play area for the kids to go to. Immediate restaurants to go get food within walking distance. If need to travel by car having access to freeways are 1minute away in any direction."

"Access to free a way quickly, restaurants and many different businesses in my area.. Public safety is within a half mile. Fire Department is not far from my location which is great."

"People don’t clean up after their dogs, it’s always stray animals around. Sidewalks are normally not shoveled when it snows so you would have to walk your dog the icy street which isn’t taken cared of either."

"don't move here it's been infested with bedbugs for years this whole blocks apartments have bed bugs they don't fix nothing that's broke the elevator is broke been walking up stairs for 4 months now and there's seniors n disabled people here....everyone's on drugs and loud at night just don't settle for it"

"Dogs are welcomed by most neighbors with plenty of walking areas. Most people keep to themselves and have their dogs on walking collars. It's an older generation neighborhood, quiet."

"Too many stray or loose animals in the streets. Kids that play outside half are unsupervised which can lead to other serious crimes or fatal traffic accidents as the neglect of those responsible for watching the kids"
