"Love Carlsbad, and this neighborhood is friendly, fun, and safe. So many incredible restaurants, shops nearby. The beach is within walking distance, and attractions like Flower Fields, and Legoland in city limits. What's not to love. "

"Lots of dog walking in the neighborhood- very dog friendly. Always helping each other to keep pet owners responsible for clean up efforts "
  • Trulia User
"There are dog poop bins and bags located throughout the area and plenty of areas to walk your dog. @5 pm they have yappy hour at the neighborhood park where dogs are free to run off leash. "
  • Trulia User
"Slow and very crowded. There is little to no public transportation so driving is the only option. More lanes are being added to I-5 in both directions, but it will not be much if any help. "
  • Trulia User
"Wonderful neighborhood for kids; friendly neighbors and community activities. Year round fun in a safe environment. "
  • Trulia User
"Nice quiet neighborhood, good neighborhoody feel with lots of people walking their dogs and feels very safe. "
  • Trulia User
"Condo neighborhood originally built as adult only has subsequently attracted single parent families. Has gotten quite noisy."
  • John C.
"Long and boring to Coronado island. Traffic on the 5 can be horrible at times. Construction on the 5 might make it better but I’m sure they’re working quickly. "
  • Desiree M.
"In the Seagate community there are plenty of doggy stations which makes the area great for walks! Even if the hills are kind of excessive, the nice weather makes up for it. Great community, safe to walk in."
  • Brennakielty

"I commute downtown San Diego so the commute from here to there has very heavy traffic during standard rush hours. The Coaster/Amtrak is less than a mile away so that offers a great commuting option."
  • Ashley O.
"There are tons of dogs in the area and you see dogs being walked all the time! It’s a very quiet neighborhood so not suitable for loud yappy dogs."
  • Rbrowning
"Easy access to 5, Palomar Airport Road, Downtown Carlsbad, Encinitas’s and Oceanside. Safe neighborhood to walk as well as community park that has several options for kids and adult sports. "
  • Erica J.
"Moderate. Poinsettia is very centrally located and traffic moves along quickly. I only drive 10 min to get to work in Carlsbad "
  • Hairikari911
"They would love the friendly people that walk their dogs as well! 🐶 We have a leash law too and it’s good that they do for those that are afraid of dogs. "
  • Laythehartwell
"1 minute from freeway onramp. Easy access to the 5. Shopping center is 1/4 mile away and the beach is 5 minutes away. Most everyone in n the area take really good care of their places and when I get home from work in the evening I love to take a swim and jacuzzi in the pool. "
  • Livvywalker
"The parking regulations suck in the HOA, and good luck fighting them on it. But there are stores and the train within walking distance. Everyone is very nice. Area is very dog friendly. There is basically a Yappy Hour every night at 6 at the park across the street."
  • Bevmadi
"I grew up in Carlsbad and want my daughter to grow up here as well. It’s a great area and it’s home!"
  • Marializeth49
"I’ve leave in this area for two years and I love it so quite and peaceful I definitely recommended to any one "
  • Sean S.
"The HOA at Alta Mira I does not like kids. They threaten to fine you if they ride bikes, skate boards, climb on trees, have fun, etc. They also hate dogs. They constantly threaten to fine everyone for the simplest of things, including letting them pee on a neighbors front yard...yes, front yard. There are a lot of nice people here, but the HOA is run by a bunch of grumpy old people that complain and want to fine everyone. Also, there is no parking. On trash day, the trash cans take up the entire street parking. Everyone begins to fight each other for street space, not only in the cul de sacs, but the entire community. This place was not set up for families to live at all. With all that said, its typically quiet and pretty safe. Just know that to use any of the common areas, while publicly encouraged, is secretly not popular as these people seem to want to put fines out there for everything. Don't take my word for it...Just ask for a copy of the most recent HOA news letter and you will see exactly what I am talking about."
