5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child loves the school. Communication is usually good and the course work is challenging. Current teacher is not as good as last years. A younger teacher this year who seems a bit snippy and dramatic. I see the lack of maturity in a younger teacher as the issue here. Overall, it's a wonderful school that continues to grow. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are recent transplants from the West Coast and I must say this school has been amazing, especially considering Covid 19 and the many challenges faced by schools over the past year. The teachers at this school truly care about the students and the communication is incredible! I lived in a great neighborhood in our last area and the school system was pretty bad. My child was accepted to a charter school and it was still horrible. No communication at all and they did not care about the students or the parents at all and this is the complete opposite. Mrs. Simmons is awesome and gets any questions you may have answered and resolved very quickly. The VP even called me (father) personally to introduce herself and let me know my daughter was missing one single assignment!! I seriously couldn’t believe it.. Since enrolling at this school my daughter has flourished and she’s excited about learning again! This school is on par with expensive private schools in other cities. The sports program seems very well organized and fun!! Every single person from the front desk all the way up to the Principal seems to take a great amount of pride in giving a true education to the kids. I was surprised to hear my daughter talking about some of the things they are learning at the 7th grade level and if this is indicative of the Dare County School System I have absolutely no doubt that she will be well prepared to attend a good University with a great success! If you’re questioning the school here in relation to a proposed relocation, don’t worry at all. They made or transition from across the country a very nice experience. They are doing an amazing job here and I’m proud to have a student at this school! Go Braves!!!Parent Review3y ago

"There are plenty of places to walk your dog. Other dog owners are friendly and courteous. The town has plenty of bag stations for dog waste. "

"Manteo, NC is beautiful and a great town, very family friendly. Lots of history and events to enjoy. Very walkable with great restaurants and play areas for Children. Highly recommend visiting or living here."

"downtown manteo has alot of historic value, they do plays and reenactments. we also have a play every summer about our lost colony"

"Lots of stuck up rude people that don’t care for kids. Tourism thinks it owns the town. Everything is over priced. I have lived all over the USA and this is by far the worst to live. Visiting is nice though. "

"Great in the off season, then summer Is hard due to traffic and rudeness. Tons for kids to do, beach, fish, kites, museum, pirates cove has tons for kids to do also. "
