About this House

Distinctive all-brick 2007 custom-built home on Bloomington's SE side. Fully remodeled kitchen (2020) and large pantry (2017) look over the beautiful, park-like .81 acre lot, with deer trail down to the banks of Jackson Creek. This area is part of an nature conservancy and can never be developed. Four cheery bedrooms, four full bathrooms (master bath has a double walk-in shower, another with a jet tub), fully finished walk-out basement with a large family room, and a flex room that could serve as an office, a guest room or a craft space. Huge living room has wood burning fireplace with a gas starter. Fireplace could easily be converted to gas. Hardwood floors on the main floor, all hallways, main stairs. There is an absolutely beautiful view from the back of the home, looking out over meadow and woods (the nature preserve). Nice open floor plan, with lots of nooks for cozy living, including a storybook window on the second floor, with floor-to-ceiling built in bookcases—which is currently used as a library. Fully finished attic space, for even more flex space, where currently is used as a guest sleeping area (‘bonus room’) on on half of the attic, and the other half is used as an office. The two generous attic rooms could be used for work-out space, yoga or dance practice, an amazing playroom, or a fantastic sewing/crafts room with lots of space to lay out projects. The home has been lovingly cared for by the original owners, who have meticulously maintained the property and added nice enhancements along the way, like the 5 fruit trees planted on the south side, including 2 apples, 1 cherry, 1 pear and 1 nectarine. The yard is full of perennials. There is a lovely deck right off the main living area, and below that a sheltered covered porch off the basement walkout below. Delightful artful touches throughout the home from the carved limestone rosette at its peak, to the subtle use of leaded glass, and the custom ceramic hearth by local artist Larry Halverson. There are fluted moldings with rosettes on all windows and doors on the main level, second level, and for most of the doors/windows in the basement. Fantastic south-side location, convenient to recreation and all the local amenities downtown, on the eastside and at IU.

"There are a lot of college kids that live here, myself included. It’s a great investment area, rents are jacked up and high demand but it’s a terrible place to raise kids and a family"
  • Justinblessed1992

  • Katykate2000
"I’m retired, I travel a lot to nearby towns and I attend church out of town. A car is imperative. My family lives 30 minutes away there is no bus line that would be helpful to me."
  • Lauren Myers
"Many students who live in our neighborhood have dogs or cats. Many pets in our neighborhood are well taken care of and are friendly with neighbors."
  • Trulia User
"I don’t have anything to offer here. There has been some Gun violence and a drug related murder a year ago. Hopefully that has all been resolved. "
  • Trulia User
"Week night dinner with neighbors of the block, events, ball games with kids. Vacation with and friends!!"

  • Trulia User
"A lot of doggie bags and waste can stations. Some green space but not a ton. Depending on your unit you have to walk far to find adequate grassy areas."
  • Fxbanker

  • Julie G.
"lots of walking paths both paved and wooded. most of the apartments have dog parks. lots of bag stations. very dog friendly place."

  • Shaylee S.
"I love being a dog owner in my neighborhood mainly because my dogs plays with all the neighbor dogs. They are buddies now to the point I even dog watch and have doggie dates to get energy out! No complaints in my neighborhood about dogs because they are all either friendly but stay to themselves or they are actually involved in our daily lives where they are our pups friend. Love it a lot."
  • Cmossbrucker
"Country setting quiet private neighborhood. Feel very safe and know my neighbors. Great place to raise kids"
  • Daisha W.
"Fireworks for several hours every night starting in about May and ending a couple weeks after the 4th of July, with random nights of hours-long fireworks here and there. "
  • Carol W. W.
"There is public transportation, but many people bike around town. The B-Line Trail is just a few blocks from my home and it’s an easy way to get downtown."
  • Morgan E. C.
"As long as you’re living on the part that’s no where near Acadia courts then you’re good. People also run the stop sign on the Allendale Winslow entrance so you have to be super careful there, and people drive pretty fast on Allendale . If you have kids make sure you have a fence and not close to the main road "
  • Eileen D.
"I love the social and cultural amenities available here in Bloomington. The arts and music scene are great and having the university here is nice"
