5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLove the new principal! He is upbeat and enthusiastic about evolving our school to the next level of technology. He actually spends time with our kids which is important to me. My kids and their friends love him. I am so glad they got rid of their old principal since she didnt seem to happy around the kids.Parent Review9y ago31 Reviews - Verdugo Hills Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMost teachers at this school are decent people; they try to teach us how to learn and are always ready to help if we reach out to them. As for the rest of the staff, they rarely keep students informed, and their only apparent goal is to push us into Advanced Placement (AP) courses. I personally heard them trying to enroll two girls in AP Biology, even though the girls were getting poor grades in regular biology at the time. Even when collecting signatures for graduation, you are handed a poorly designed form containing contradictory information. I had to run all over the school to get my copy, even though the teacher for my third-period class was supposed to issue it. I remember once complaining about being bullied by other students; the school counselor responded quickly, and we began addressing the situation. Unfortunately, I wasn't satisfied with the outcome: even after the bullying issue was discussed in class, the teacher made it clear that everyone faces bullying in life and that it is normal. I remember how that particular teacher got angry when she saw a student wearing a hat during the Pledge of Allegiance. He asked if he could keep it on, but she walked right up to him and snatched the hat off his head; it turned out he was bald, and I saw how deeply he was hurt by it. Realizing she had acted wrongly, she didn't apologize; instead, she announced to the class that hats were forbidden and declared that she felt absolutely no shame for her actions. I don't know why she treated us that way, perhaps because we were not native English speakers, but she was truly rude and disrespectful. Furthermore, it was only after a student attacked another student that the school installed cameras and began calling the police to patrol the premises. Back when I first arrived and was in the 9th grade, I often saw used condoms on the ground. There was even a recent incident in the restroom, which is why the only restrooms currently open are the ones in the main building. What’s more, I actually witnessed the act myself—on the outdoor steps near one of the classrooms when I was in the 10th grade. The school offers a wide range of sports and summer educational programs. Thus, the safety level is 1/10; teaching quality 8/10; school organization 4/10; quality of school food 3/10; teachers' attitude toward students varies, sometimes 9/10 and sometimes 1/10; college preparation 7/10. Just remember one thing, you have to ask about and find out everything for yourself.Student Review2w ago8 Reviews - Mt. Gleason Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have a student in the special education department here and I can't say enough great things about the support we have at Mt. Gleason! Everyone is so caring and kind and my son FINALLY has friends. The schoolwork is challenging but not insurmountable, and the curriculum is diverse and hands on. The entire staff has only ever been helpful and kind and I think this deserves a review here!Parent Review1y ago29 Reviews - Check out schools near 11020 Eldora Pl.

"Pretty decent neighborhood. Very quiet but there is some steady noise from the nearby 210. Grocery stores are nearby but be prepared to pay a dollar extra at the pump compared to other areas. Sunland, Sun Valley & San Fernando have the cheapest gas in the area so keep that in mind."

"been living here for 6 months leases up finally can't wait to get out of here. there's not a lot of crime at all it's actually really boring, the majority of the people around here that just make it an unpleasant place to live. fast food restaurants and retail stores in my immediate area have some of the rudest employees of any of their respective chain stores that I've ever been to ever so unprofessional. all the dining rooms at the fast food restaurants in the neighborhood closed by 7:00 p.m. sometimes earlier so if you don't have a car dinner might be a problem unless you like to cook or have the extra cash to have Uber eats or whatever deliver for you everyday. this is only run once an hour or so and there's usually very inconsistent sometimes really early sometimes really late, there are two buses that passed down foothill one of them being the 90 lm pay attention to which church engine you're using and be extra cautious sellers little to no activityone of them being the 690 the 690 if they close attention do not get on the wrong bus or you will end up in the middle of nowhere for an hour because they will not sto"

"Very violent homeless problem and irresponsible drivers, accidents are daily in this area. It’s very neighborly in some areas but in others it’s not so welcoming. Also be expecting loud noises from 12 am- 7am"

"I have lived in the Sunland/Tujunga area for over 10 years. It has great parks and stores. It is central to all major cities, which makes commuting fast and easy. New home owners and business investors are really making an impact and transforming Sunland. Great town!!!"

"The family- community of love for one another through thick and thin. Never forgetting the struggles of life., and being there for one another to help in times of need ... no matter how badly we may have allowed ourselves to hit such a low. Of it were 10... maybe even 5 years ago, this was a given. As the days go bye. it changes more and more each day into chaos beyomd control.. due to the uprupt changes, culture and family of whom are taking over this once a time a place known as a haven.... "
