Description

BY APPOINTMENT: Located on one of Brooklyn's most lovely blocks of Prospect Lefferts Gardens Historic District, this gracious home has only been occupied by two families in its 72 year history. Custom built in 1950, the generous room dimensions exude mid-century sophistication throughout its 4,800 square feet. The main level features an entry vestibule leading into a foyer from which the living room, dining room, library, kitchen, powder room, and staircase are all easily accessed. Entertaining is easy as the main rooms flow together effortlessly and there is plenty of space. The living room is the heart of this home at over 22 feet in length and 14 feet wide. A bay with four windows provides architectural detail and pocket doors lead to a magnificent wood paneled library. Imagine relaxing in the library with a good book and a cocktail from the adjacent built-in bar. The bespoke 1950s kitchen has maple cabinets, vintage Formica countertops, and two windows providing plenty of light. To the right of the kitchen is a breakfast room with a pass-through to the kitchen. The formal dining room is to the left of the kitchen and has built-in cabinets for serving pieces plus two doors leading outside to the dining terrace.

Upstairs are four large bedrooms. The primary suite is on the back of the house and features a double closeted dressing room and a bathroom outfitted in quintessential 1950s pink ceramic tile. Across the hall are two bedrooms - one perfectly sized for a queen bed and the other an exceptionally large bedroom perfect as a guest suite, playroom, or den. A charming dutch door leads from this bedroom to a 200+ square foot terrace with wonderful views of the surrounding homes and sky as far as you can see. These two bedrooms are connected through a Jack and Jill bathroom outfitted in gorgeous turquoise ceramic tiles. The fourth bedroom is equally large and located at the end of the hallway. Hardwood floors run throughout this floor and there is a large linen closet too.

The lower level of the home was originally designed as a physician's office and features a waiting room, receptionist's office, examination rooms as well as two half bathrooms. The possibilities for this portion of the home are endless: a media room, home gym, wine cellar, and still room for additional guest space. Also on the lower level is a laundry room and plenty of storage. A separate front entrance to this level of the house offers maximum flexibility.

Complementing the great scale of the home is the significant lot size. Measuring 80 feet wide by 100 feet deep this lot is larger than 4 standard townhome lots. The double car garage, large private driveway for additional parking, as well as lawn on all 4 sides enhance the home. Situated on a tree-lined block amongst other 20th-century free-standing homes and only 2 blocks from Prospect Park. Commuting to midtown is easy with Express B and Q trains two blocks away at the Prospect Park station. Convenience abounds in Prospect Lefferts Gardens with fabulous restaurants, coffee shops, groceries, and wonderful local shops around the corner.

"It is a Decent commute, everything is within 15 minutes to 1 hour. There is a bus on most routes and a way to get to a subway station to be able to get to your destination. When it comes to transportation this borough has the most transportation by far. "

"Proximity to all means of transportation bus trains and taxi service, Prospect park facility availability is better hop skip and a jump , traffic is a bit crowded at times everybody busy to go in the same direction nowhere . Proximity to the local hospital kings County about a five minute walk up all three minute drive depending on traffic although also Barclay center is about 10 minutes by bus"
  • Trulia User
"nothing much, we come together and have fun and everyone is security conscious, and we look out for our neighbors at all time "
  • Lareeree
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood directly facing Prospect Park for 12 years. The neighborhood has wonderful attributes with access to the park, Botanical Garden, Zoo, library and museum being very high on the list. Many aspects of the neighborhood have deteriorated as well. The entrance to the park area has crime, homelessness, littering and over crowding in the warmer months. We are leaving this neighborhood after suffering many of these issues. Mainly our dog has become very anxious because of all-night sound and fireworks throughout the summer nights. If you have no dog and no young babies it is worth checking out."
  • Patrick O.
"Difficult to say I don't own a dog, but the proximity to Prospect Park I assume would be a plus for 🐕 owners."
  • Juanluisarias

  • Shantel F.
"I've lived here for 3 years and the area has really grown on me every thing is so close by and convenient. stores, place's to eat, and transportation. "

"I've lived in this area for more then 45 years and I love it here. the community has changed over the years but just so quiet and peaceful here it like living in the suburbs. the park and the beautiful changes you see, all the season's from the first snow fall to the changes of the leaves its so beautiful in my neighborhood. would leave this area for no one.
