Ebbetts Field Middle School

i absolutely regret sending my child here. This school is run like a zoo and the students run wild. The principal shows how much he is not in control nor does je tru to get a handle on things when they get out of hand. I'm sure my child could have gotten a better education at another school. The teachers are in a tough position because i feel like they are only soing what they are told to do. If you don't have a good leader then how do you expect others to follow. This is just a horrible school.

My two children started in pre-K and the oldest is now moving into 5th grade. We’ve had a great experience — the teachers care deeply about the kids and there’s great teacher retention. Since the new principle took over a few years ago, Ms Foy has bought a burst of positive energy with lots more arts and language, plenty of clubs and outside activities. My son is learning Mandarin, my daughter is getting on well with the violin. They both love the chess club. I’m just sad that capoeira only lasted a year! I also like that the parents are much more relaxed here than places like PS316 - where my neighborhood friends report constant intense debates about every issue and opinion. That’s not something my wife and I were looking for. Long story short, our two kids are doing well, reading a grade or two about where they should be. While these’s not enough diversity yet (the attendees are 80% black) that is shifting and comes down to the choices the non-black community make.

My child has an IEP and currently in PreK. This school has been very informative and supportive to his needs! I hope we continue to have a great relationship through his elementary years!!
