"I drive 2 miles to work and a 1/2 mile is my daughter’s school even though there is a bus. Max also is near but I don’t feel it’s safe."
  • Bogdan Kornivskyy
"A lot of homeless persons doing drugs right on the street. Broken windows in cars almost every week"
  • Bogdan Kornivskyy
"Lots of homeless people around. Doing drugs, broken in to cars stealing stuff.. not really good place to call it home"
  • Trulia User
"my area has great public transportation and when I drive it's not much waiting on traffiic. I never feel like I'm going to be a, victim roasrage"
  • Trulia User
"I love this area it's fast paced and lots of things to do close by.people are friendly and look out for one another. it is a high volume area so it has its crime. during normal hours of operation it's just fine "
  • Trulia User
"SE Portland is full of parks and is very dog friendly. People need to pick up after their pets better though. It's quite disgusting. "
  • Trulia User
"No one picks up after themselves, and you will walk by violently mentally- ill people at any time. it is not safe nor is it clean enough. I have also found needles in the street and sidewalks. "
  • Trulia User
"A lot of people in this area on the main streets look like they’re suffering from severe addiction, mental illness, and homelessness. I’ve definitely smelled burning substances near the max station and while walking to food trucks or the nature trail. I would not be comfortable letting kids or teenagers walk around this neighborhood, especially without adult supervision. I’ve seen city trash cans on fire, a churchyard on fire, and heard loud gunshots both during the day and night. I feel like most of Portland has become pretty unsafe at this point, but the vibe in this neighborhood feels more sketchy than some other areas."
  • Trulia User
"that there is parks nearby for entertainment for kids, community center, and public transportation is nearby for easy access to going places, fast food restaurants and shopping is nearby."
  • Trulia User
"I work in the suburbs, so my commute is approximately 30 minutes. We're close to public transportation in our neighborhood. "
  • Trulia User
"Transit system is available throughout this neighborhood. Light rail/max, bus, rental scooters and bikes. This neighborhood is very busy mornings and early evenings. "
  • Estherlysenko
"As me being a dog owner living in this neighborhood, I loved how peaceful the hazel wood neighborhood is. It is also very clean neighborhood and well taken care of "
  • Alora G.
"Hazelwood is a very diverse neighborhood made up of mostly homeowners and families. It’s a walkable, kid and dog friendly neighborhood that feels like a melting pot, much more than other areas. We love our neighborhood, everyone is friendly and says hi on our walks. "
  • Melissa R.
"This neighborhood is no longer safe. Condemned buildings, homeless camp and trash everywhere . People race their cars down the street "
  • Trulia User
"Sidewalks are not well suited for walking dogs due to the mailbox locations. Lately a bunch of young muscle car enthusiasts have started racing down the streets. There have been a number of police incidents within a couple hundred feet from my house. I cannot wait to move."
  • Robert.w.walker
"There is a dog park, of sorts, and there are a couple of parks nearby, but dogs still need to be on a leash at the parks. The parks also seem to be a hub for other, nefarious, activities. The sidewalks are hard to walk with your dog."
  • Waterwalker12
"Great access to light rail and the transit station. Another thing I like about this neighborhood is we are in close proximity to freeways and you are in the middle of the mountains the beach, downtown etc. Also the airport is about a 10 minute drive from my house. Not everybody works downtown. I love where I live."
  • Adolfo B.
"The only thing I would like to see do the owners dog pick up after them.that will help a better community’s "
  • Jdarruza
"Sure why not Portland has the best public transit then any other state of course great commutes great "
  • Pendragon525
"Very close to shopping, medical care, restaurants, community center, schools, police and MAX. Dog friendly. House numbers can be hard to find."
  • Pendragon525
"Easy access to shopping, dining, and the MAX. Also: a nearby police station, hospital, schools and the East County Parks & Rec. Off the major streets tends to be quiet, although one does hear the occasional ambulance for the hospital. Pet-friendly."
  • D.vercherjr
"There are not a lot of families with small children. Neighbors watch out for each other. Great walking trail at Glendoveer. "
  • Unspecified
"the neighborhood has a really Nice park where dogs are welcome as well as lots of dogs playing and walking. I walk my dog to the park all the time. We are always welcome "
  • anita d
"the area is kinda sketchy but there's always worse.. keep your car locked for sure. oh and tons of homeless camps nearby. "
  • Greg P
"it's a little pocket of nice small homes that are well established. Most homes are owner occupied and the turnover is small. People take pride in the area and their homes. It is convenient to transit, shopping, a large community center, and entertainment. The Jade district is just blocks away as is Portland Community College. "
  • Jordan S.
"Love it here. It’s close to everything - the airport, downtown, major restaurants & shops. Great area to live in. "
  • A.T.
"There were over 4,000 crimes reported in the hazelwood neighborhood in 2018. Don’t believe me? Check the local police log. I wish we had researched before moving here, the rent was cheap but now we know why. It’s UNSAFE. "
  • Hayesabby
"Events at the park nearby. Ventura park was redone, and a lot of fun to take our toddler to. During the summer there is lunch in the park. "
  • Misty R.
"Ventura Park elementary school is an exceptional school. The area I live in is a very good neighborhood:)"
  • Zack B.
" close to max. walking distance to the mall. friendly people but i have gotten my work vehicle broken into twice in 2 years.. "
  • Snowflake4boy
"My neighborhood is made up of young couples with small kids, parents with teens as well as those who have been there done that and are in the beginning of a new stage of life. There are stores, restaurants, schools, and entertainment areas all around, most within walking distance. The neighbors are friendly yet not busibodies, helpful yet not pushy. It's a great neighborhood to start in as a young couple, have a family in and grow old in. I looked around before I settled here and I'm glad I did. This neighborhood feels like home. "
  • Misty R.
"I have lived in this neighborhood for nine years, it is a good area. Mostly the neighborhood has elderly residents, who are very nice."
  • Csiel16
"I've lived in this neighborhood for nearly 30 years. I feel safe here. It's also very peaceful and quiet and neighbors are friendly. It is a very walkable neighborhood and there is even a dog park. Stores and restaurants are also nearby along with the convenience of Max if needed."
