Description

Architectural Orinda GemThis award-winning custom Mediterranean was re-built in 2011 by local builder, Mark Bohon. This inviting architectural style is characterized by the red tile roof, crisp white stucco exterior, oversized French Blue windows and French doors, reclaimed wood window sills and custom milled rafter tails, antique mahogoney front door, and expansive, tiled terraces and pavilion. The wonderful marriage between recycled materials, open and airy living spaces, and phenomenal Mt Diablo and Las Trampas Ridge views evokes a sense of harmony and balance difficult to find in today's fast-paced world. The interior boasts exceptional fit and finish with plaster walls, recycled wood, organic materials, built-in niche cabinetry, custom inset cabinetry, recessed lighting, and dark hardwood floors. The chefs kitchen is complete with marble counters, an over-sized island with walnut top, professional-grade stainless appliances and a white, hand-cut, subway-tile backsplash. The light-filled great room is anchored with a brick fireplace with beam mantel, and features wonderful natural light and views through oversized windows. The dining room is perfectly sized to accommodate formal or informal meals and gatherings. The upper level of the home also houses the private master retreat and a secondary bedroom and bathroom. The lower level houses a fantastic over-sized second family room, two secondary bedrooms that share the hall bath, a laundry room, storage room and wine cellar. The 1-acre serene setting offers unforgettable views, mature landscape, an expansive level lawn, a covered outdoor pavilion with rustic beam-ceiling and stucco seating (designed for outdoor dining), wrap-around upper terrace (designed for outdoor entertaining) and multiple points of interior access. Additional highlights include two driveways (with ample off-street parking), and the perfect canvas to create your own Mediterranean gardens complete with pool, vineyard and bocce ball court. (The sellers are happy to share the pool renderings they had created). Conveniently located minutes from Hwy. 24, BART, town, and highly acclaimed Orinda and Acalanes Unified School District schools, this home offers the best of city living in a peaceful, private location.

"Great for families, excellent school, charming town. Fun hikes and lots of cycling options. Near BART and just 20 mins to SF ( with light traffic). Lots of greenery and very very friendly and safe. "
  • Justice Speaks
"If you live on top of the hill, there is always some traffic to beat - just to get to the freeways. "
  • Mpietrykowski
"4th of July parade. Kids sports ( swimming, baseball, basketball, flag football, etc) Music in the park. "
  • Mpietrykowski
"Great schools (on all levels) Family oriented, Safe. Not perfect but a very good pace to raise a family. "
  • Edhausser
"Lots of trees with trails nearby. Easy access to shopping and entertainment. Beautiful houses and neighbors are friendly"
  • Carissa H.
"Very very good schools. Nice people. Lots of wildlife - deer, turkeys, Fox, coyote, owls, and much much more."
  • Daniel
"Not all streets have sidewalk so you must be careful of cars passing on side streets. That being said it’s a lovely neighborhood."
  • Dana Y.
"There are not alot of exit points in Orinda in the event of a fire or a disaster. There is a small town feel to this place. "
  • Staylor31
"Orinda is a tight knit community given the smaller size of the town. Making an investment in your relationships with your neighbors pays off in dividends! Get out and get to know the people around you. "
  • Home B.
"Great access to public Transportation; good access to High way; "
  • Kelly R.
"No sidewalks makes it tough to get out with little kids and even bigger kids riding bikes is difficult. In general super safe, the roads are narrow and very curvy probably the least safe thing for kids is walking to and from the bus stop. "
  • Rick W.
"Lived here for 37 years, went to high school here in the 60s. It’s safe, beautiful hills and oak trees, good restaurants, close to many cultural opportunities. "
  • Matt
"25 years in this community. Deer and raccoons drink from my pool. I have no concern leaving my doors unlocked.....though I don’t as a precaution."
  • Casey
"Lived here for 12 years now. We love Orinda's almost rural feeling, with great access to BART and therefore San Francisco, Oakland, and everywhere else it goes to. Families in our neighborhood tend to stay put. Some homes are occupied by 2nd generations, and the couple 3 doors down form us have been there since the 1950s. Very peaceful, quiet, safe."
  • Gregalker
"The rolling hills the cool weather the peace and serenity and the closeness to everything that is frenetic and pays well"
  • Jay W.
"Peaceful, safe with low crime, kind neighbors who generally look out for each other, topped by great schools."
  • Katherine R.
"It’s beautiful, quiet, and private. I’ve lived here for about 20 years. The houses are all unique and gorgeous. There are lots of trees, you almost feel like you’re living out in the country instead of in the middle of a sprawling metropolitan area, just on the other side of the Caldecott tunnel from Oakland. While you definitely can’t walk to the grocery store, Safeway is a pretty close drive and there are shops and restaurants right at the bottom of the hill. My favorite part of living here is close proximity to grizzly peak and Tilden and Sibley parks. The steam trains and merry-go-round are fantastic for young children, and there are excellent hiking trails with views of the bay. "
  • Klmilan
"Semi-rural ambiance, convenient location for shopping and public transportation, friendly and super safe .... hard-to-beat by any standard."
