5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCheck the test scores. Consistently BELOW average in every category, year after year. I graduated from this school with highest honors, and performed dismally in math and science in college. I had a few stand-out teachers during my time at GCHS, and they did a fantastic job with their subject matter. But those were the exception and not the rule. If you have a smart, college-bound child, get the heck out of this school district! Don't let their grades and honors fool you......they will NOT be prepared for college level courses with a diploma from GCHS. Unless you plan on going to Motlow or Chatt State...then they'll probably be all right.Student Review10y ago - Palmer Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter moved here from a previous Grundy County school last year, and within a week she began reading and spelling like there was nothing to it. Not only are the teachers loving and caring and always putting the students first, but their principal is wonderful. He treats these children as if they are his own. There will never be another school for my children. In my opinion Palmer Elementary is the best.Parent Review8y ago - Pelham Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePelham Elementary School is where I went and I would not take anything in the world for my experiences, memories, and loving teachers. We enjoyed going to school and the teachers new you by name and your parents, cousins, uncles and in-laws. This is a generational school as past generations of graduates come back to this God fearing county with good people and friendly neighbors that know your name and want to help you become something more. I myself drive my children 40 + miles round trip to go this school and this school is that" good". Many past graduates work there and many more in the Grundy County region who left are coming back. Trump says as did Reagan "lets make America Great again". I say "Pelham has been great, is great and will continue to be great as long as community, family, friends, fellowship, and faith as well as the faithful come back and we all wok together to carry on the legacy of this school and community".Parent Review7y ago - Swiss Memorial Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 3 children that attend this school and they've loved every minute of it. Their grades are wonderful and the teachers really seem to love the students. We're very rarely asked for money and I have yet so see or hear of any problem with bullying.Parent Review7y ago - North Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy brothers first grade teacher was definitely the best teacher in the county and should be top ranked in the state. The school has a bad reputation for not being up to par with comparable schools but I must say my brother, while he attended there excelled in areas he is now struggling with in a top rated school in another state. He has a vocabulary equal to that of a high school student or even early college year student. Now that he has been attending a new school..which is higher ranked and rated to be "excellence in your child's learning" his grades have dropped, he has little teacher to student involvement and nearly failed this year. While Tracy Elementary may not be the best school, it definitely has some great teachers and with some minor improvements I feel that they could greatly improve the overall ranking they currently have. One of the biggest problem areas is just simply parent involvement, if the parent doesn't know what their child should be doing at home, and how they are doing in class they can't help their child improve. I think there should be regular parent teacher meetings and newsletters sent home to keep parents informed on everything happening in the schoolParent Review9y ago - Grundy County Academy
