"I'm stationed here and I moved out of the baracks. I like that I can have any dog I want and the neighbors are friendly."
  • "Great area! Safe neighborhood near excellent schools. A short distance from the oceanfront and very near two Navy bases and the commissary."
  • "Great neighborhood. Safe and down the street from the oceanfront."
  • "The Redwing neighborhood is in a great, centralized location. From this area of Virginia Beach, one can easily access the interstate and several major shopping centers, including Hilltop, Landstown Commons and Redmill. General Booth Blvd. itself provides a nice selection of eating locations. Redwing is connected to the large walking/biking paths quickly sprouting up on the major roads in this section of the city. From my home, I could easily bike anywhere, be it the ocean front or the up Dam Neck Rd. Some locations are a bit far, but it's a great day trip and major road crossings now include crosswalk signs that stop traffic in all directions, making it much safer than the old system. The walking/biking paths also lend themselves to easily being able to take walking adventures with my dog. You will find many other citizens do the same. If a walking trip does not suit you, you can try some of the large, popular parks in the neighborhood and across General Booth Blvd. from the neighborhood, both easily accessible. The downsides to the Redwing neighborhood are the traffic you experience being close to Oceana, as well as the parking availability should you choose a home without much road frontage. Otherwise, parking is generally fine and I have no encountered any issues parking on the street for almost two years. As I do not have children in school, nor do I use public transportation, I've rated those "Average.""
