What Locals Say about Downtown

Review Highlights

Downtown St. Louis: energetic loft living by the Arch, walkable to games, eats, riverfront thrills. People like walkable eats, events, Arch greenspace, museums, MetroLink, and easy venue access. They dislike crime, homelessness, noise, construction, poor parking, and safety.

"AVOID IT. Downtown Saint Louis’ poverty, homeless, dilapidated buildings, lack of safe public spaces, crime rate, failing public schools all contribute to a horrifying realty for its residents. "

"If you value your safety, sanity and hopes for a future… DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER LIVING HERE. Robberies, Gun Fire, cars Broken into, human waste on sidewalks, rampant crime and more and more homeless trafficking drugs in and out. Value your life, choose safety. "

"I love the loft district and the food choices. Nothing unique but it’s very busy and exciting. I am very close to the arch and the river front."

"No schools in the area nor is it safe for kids to play outdoors unattended. Definitely watch your children if they’re playing outdoors."

"Tough place to have a dog. I walk mine on Arch grounds but if not close to that it would be pretty hard to find a spot of grass. And too hot for paws on sidewalk. "

"20 minute at Louis commute. Love this city. Love this community. Coming from a big city background where you had to plan 2-3 hours ahead to go to an event because of traffic, parking and crazy summer events. Not here is St Louis...20 minutes for traffic, park and boom your are in your venue."

"watch your step most people don't pick up after their dogs. But the neighborhood is very dog friendly anyways. The Metrolink is very close I don't own a car and that's better for me. Parking is atrocious you will get a ticket no matter how hard you try."
