What Locals Say about Simonsdale

  • Davis Earnhardt
"Civic center and churches are key to this neighborhood. The elementary school has baseball fields. Portsmouth city park and golf course are all a walk or bike ride away"
  • Davis Earnhardt
"Being close to the huge city park with a boat launch and a golf course. The newly built playground is a great place to take the children"
  • Trulia User
"It’s close to the city park and schools. I recommend day time activities, after dark, doors should be closed and locked. Guns shots are often heard either closes by or in the distance. "
  • Kristina A.
"I don't have any kids but I always see them around in the neighborhood. people seem courteous when driving in the neighborhoods also. "
  • Molly M.
"Close to interstates; I can be anywhere local within 30 minutes including Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, Chesapeake and Norfolk. "
  • Angelia W.
"The area has access to all major interstates and toll-ways, most of the time traffic is congested and people are rude. "
  • Me, Myself & I.
"There’s lots of mosquitoes to bite the kids. And people don’t cut their grass or maintain their homes. Nothing special in this neighborhood. People who say otherwise are straight lying. "
  • Angelia W.
"Walking distance to very nice park w/ playgrounds. It’s in the water w/ a fishing pier as well as a boat launch. Tennis courts and duck/ geese pond."
  • "This area is great. Especially near City Park. You have easy access to the interstate as well as shopping. The neighborhood is quiet and is great for kids with daycare right on City Park Avenue at Peter Pan. Also the schools are all newly build and modern. "
  • "Specifically, Pollux Circle West is a decent place for those starting out or those who have retired. There are problems in the neighborhood however. There are some who smoke pot openly, cars have gotten vandalized including mine, and there is a person who is on the sexual predator list on this very street. However, I must admit that I've never had an issue with him but others may. As in many neighborhoods, it's quiet, but not perfect. If you have no car, the bus stop is about 2 or 3 blocks over and there is a public park nearby. However, there are very few shops and no malls within walking distance. There are no movie theaters in Portsmouth and if you would like some semblance of nightlife, this neighborhood is fairly far away from that. You would need a car to drive to downtown Portsmouth or Norfolk, etc. You just need to go in aware of the issues and possible issues and be proactive if you're going to live here. Don't go in with your eyes closed like me! I'm glad to now be in a place where everything is very close by or walking distance...in Virginia Beach!"
