What Locals Say about Pelham

Review Highlights

Pelham buzzes: leafy, safe suburb with swift trains, walkable blocks, easy city access. Residents value top schools, safety, parks, walkability, and an easy train commute to Grand Central. Drawbacks: very high taxes and costs, scarce parking and rentals, few bins, low late-night buzz.

"It’s got great sidewalks and everyone loves dogs. But they want you to pick up after them as you should. We even have a dog park in pelham manor some people take the dogs off leashes there. It can lead to conflict it’s not fenced with a dog run"
  • Saraviamario
"Great place to walk dogs. People and pets are friendly and look after each other. Would highly recommend it."
  • Saraviamario
"Great schools, great location, and great neighborhood. Hidden gem in Westchester. We moved from the city a year ago and love it. "
  • Hassyny
"Its beautiful. Lovely old trees. Train ride to the city. Excellent public school. Lots of people living here are incredibly warm and nice. NY is very expensive and all of westchester taxes are very high. That’s the hard part"
  • sasha Henriquez
"The people keep to themselves. But the community thrives off of family and education. The school programs and sports are a high priority here. "
  • Nichelle Cardona
"Dog owners would appreciate the parks for their dogs to play in. The parks are kept clean by staff and dog owners who pick up after their dogs. There is also ample room for the dogs to play together, especially in Shore Park. There is little to no garage on the sidewalks for the pups to mistakenly eat. The one thing I will say, is there isn’t enough garbage bins for waste bags so you have to hold onto them until you find one"
  • Gareth Barr
