What Locals Say about Long Hill Township

  • Simplyme262
"There are no sidewalks in more than 50% of the town, there are train stations near by but still need cars to get there unless you live within walking distance, but again no real sidewalks to 2 of the 3 stations in town. It is a sleepy town but amazing community and great place to raise kids."

"Long Hill is located very close to 78 which is a feeder highway to New York City. Additionally, property taxes are very reasonable for the area and type of services you get. "
  • Scott B.
"I’m working from home. It is not very far. I do not need to travel. It is easy. The highways are easy to access."
  • Deb F.
"Dogs are not running around loose and well behaved. I have two dogs myself and a fenced in yard. I think anyone moving to Long Hill would be happy. "
  • Lauren D.
"Block parties, holiday parties, the fire department always has holiday/community events planned. Especially love Santa on the firetruck visiting kids at their houses."
  • Bstocker44
"Lots of options exist for walking on streets not heavily traveled by cars, nearby green acres walkway too"

"The Stirling Train station is a useful mode of transportation. There is also a bus line and shops that can be in walking distance depending on the House locations "

"Long Hill Township has a wonderful sense of community! From the Memorial Day Parade to the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Little League, Girl and Boy Scout troops/events, Family Fun Run, Annual Bike Race, great school district, particularly if you have special needs children - you just can't go wrong purchasing a house here!"

"We've lived in Gillette for about 4 years now. The location is great for us. We have family in the area and my wife and I work close by. While Gillette wasn't our first choice, we couldn't quite affford the prices in nearby Chatham/Madison at the time we purchased. If you are targeting a home below $450,000, Gillette is a great option. Personally, anything above that and I would try and find something in Chatham, Madison, New Providence. Schools are a bit better, all have a downtown, and are closer to NYC. Pros: -decent schools -suprisingly good restaurants (Thai Thai is our fav) -on NYC train line -you can still find a fixer upper that is priced like a fixer upper Cons: -noy very walkable -no real downtown -still many houses that are old and have not been updated (aka - even if you get your house looking great, chaces are a couple houses on your block are no looking so hot and dragging down the look of the neighborhood).
