What Locals Say about Chowen Park

"Wonderful area to raise kids - starts to blend urban and suburban a bit. Close to lakes and many parks"
  • Annemonine
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 6 years and have watched it grow and people move in from all over. The warmth and friendliness in the community has only grown. There are more children in the neighborhood so you see children playing in the parks and families walking their dogs. Lots of smiling, waving, and stops for chats. In addition, we have direct access to EVERYTHING. Starting with a walk to Lola's. The Southdale Mall, Galleria, YMCA, 50th & France- all a quick drive or bike ride. "

"It depends on how much you like being gossiped about. It’s very fake friendly to your face. There are some exceptions who are great people, but be prepared for judgment in all forms if you are not perfect.."
  • Pitbullluv22
"I don't have to commute to my job. The only recent construction going on is they are fixing the older roads. "
  • Teresa
"Straight shot onto 100 or 62. I commute to Fridley. 25 min in traffic most days. Not too bad. "
  • "This neighborhood has a combo of first time homebuyers, many under 40 with young families to seniors that have lived here forever and we are seeing an uptick with empty nesters moving in also. This neighborhood IS in Edina schools, Zillow and Trulia are often mislabelling. Chowen Park/Chowen Avenue Neighborhood has 3 parks, several have been redone within the last 5 years. Within a 1 mile radius there are over 13 restaurants (one that has been featured on Food Network's Diners & Drive-Ins), 5 grocery stores, 3 hardware stores, 2 major malls, access to Hwy 62, 100 & 35W. It is ~4m to Calhoun Square, ~7m to the airport & Mall of America. In the summer there are neighborhood get-togethers with children and you can walk to the Fulton Farmers Market and Edina Art Fair. You don't get much space, but you have access to the city life while still getting suburbian schools (Edina is in the top 1-2 for the state), and this neighborhood has about 10-12 teardowns in process, rebuilding with 600k+ homes. We have lived here around 7 years and our home has appreciated in this economy. Check it out! "
