Review Highlights

De Soto, MO: easygoing small-town hub with quick highway links, parks, and family events. People like the friendly vibe, parks and lake access, dog-friendly walks, and easy drives. They dislike limited dining and rentals, visible drug use, HOA road issues, and Hwy 21 crashes.

"I live close to Main Street, HwY 21 and Hwy 110 so my drive to town is simple. If going south toward Farmington it’s about 35 minutes. If I’m going toward Arnold it is 35 minutes also. The scenic route of Hwy 21 is preferred over the construction and constant traffic on Hwy 55. Hwy 67 is not bad, nice drive, but 55 is not worth it to me."
  • Ashley Sieker
"The sidewalk is right next to my yard and ive had kids walk passed harassing my dogs numerous times."
  • Traci
"Towns are a bit rural so a car is needed. Although you’re in the country their are available stores and I quick 10-20 minute drive gets you to a larger selection of stores and restaurants "
  • Cody L.
"parents need to know that it is a good neighborhood and close to walmart good schools parks are close by "
  • Lisa C.
"Clean and safe. Dogs are loved here and there is are vets in the surrounding areas. There is also a great groomer in town!"
  • Ki_ki_001
"People walk their dogs all the time. There are several parks available to walk in that are dog friendly as well. "
  • Jruss9190
"Outskirts Desoto nice and safe. Sister lives in town and never had any issues with anyone. Very nice park in town and anything you need is right there"
  • "Community activities often, especially for kids. Neighborhood fireworks, trick or treating hayrides, hide and seek games for the kids in the summer, 2 annual yard sales, raffles for donated items to help pay for playgrounds, and to enhance community areas and park as well as the beach, fishing tournaments. "

"I've lived here for 24 years and counting. the drug's are bad around here. Use to be a nice place to live. There are still a lot of good people in this town though. "
  • Melvin S.
"I've lived here for over 9 years no problems at all. I have great neighbors who watch out for each other's property "
  • Skyeweadon22
"De Soto is a great place to live depending on the area. Theres some places I would not personally live with small children or myself for that matter. but overall De Soto is a great town that everything is all together and easy to get to. Lots of parks close by and places to swim."
  • Amanda
"They do holiday parades on main street by the tracks and car shows, its something fun to do to take the kids out and see."
  • Paige
"Roads are part of HOA and aren’t maintained. Highway 21 has a lot of accidents. House needs a lot of work and overpriced for Washington County"
  • Rfwright1313
"I find most people are friendly. There are many community events throughout most of the of the year. There is definitely a strong sense of patriotism here. The down side is, the school's curriculum calls for the children to be taught the most useless math. If you own pets, especially dogs, you will not find anywhere, within at least 30 miles of DeSoto, to rent a house. There is a visible population of drug users in town. "

"likeable. Fairly friendly. well lit. easy walking distance to some restaurant and stores. likeable neighbors. great looking out for each other "
  • Spooky N.
"desoto is just as bad as everywhere else lived here for 19 years and glad to get away from the small town mentality "
  • Britton p.
" The town has little to offer young people. I think our small town is in need for more restaurants. I would really enjoy a captain D's restaurant and a Arby's. "
  • Christine S.
"Gated 45+- acre lake community with a small sand beach and several nice areas to fish. Also has some very sweet neighbors."
  • Angie F.
"I love my town. friendly ppl. I've lived in this town since I was 7 years old.i love my dogs. just have to keep them on a leash that's all"
  • Laurarulo75
"The parades that they have on main street are really great, and the firework show is the best I have experienced so far."
  • Laurarulo75
"You can take your dog pretty much anywhere. What you wont like is if you live in town you have to register your dog and it cost."
  • Schandial
"Friendly people, beautiful architecture, small town but close to big city. Close to state parks where you can camp, hike, walk gravel bars and kayak and fish"
  • Mark H.
"I've lived here since 2011. My shop and office are on site. View is great. Lots of wild life. Have game cams set up around the property to capture pictures of wild life. Neighbors on three sides have horses. Completely peaceful. Country living yet only five minutes from shopping and restaurants."
  • William F.
"Plenty of Parks, History and a great school district."
