This school has been a pillar of excellence, growth, and opportunity for our family and the entire community.John Muir High School Early College Magnet is truly a gem. Over the past several years, it has consistently delivered on its promise to provide both a strong high school education and the incredible opportunity for students to earn college credits—many even graduate with multiple Associate of Arts degrees by the time they finish high school. That’s right: students are leaving Muir not just with their high school diploma, but with college degrees in hand. This is a game-changer for families and students alike. The dedication of the teachers, staff, and administrators is second to none. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExtremely chaotic. Students are disrespectful to teachers. Have little concern for learning. At times kids are running around wild. Feel that teachers don't really care about the situation or just feel things are just out of control.Other Review3mo ago8 Reviews - Washington Accelerated Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at WESM now for 3 years and could not be happier. The staff and teachers are all very caring and my son with learning disabilities is enjoying school and loves the teachers. They have a new Environmental Sciences program that he especially loves as he gets to work with materials like clay, and recycled materials, and 2nd grade classes are working in groups to build tiny sustainable cities, and learning about the materials they can use. They also have a new Spanish Language program that also deals with the culture of different countries, and he can now tell you all about the Bolivian Salt flats and more! They are adding some really engaging murals for the kids to enjoy, the playground is getting upgrades, and some native trees have been planted that will add more natural shade for the kids in years to come. They have a stem lab and math lab also, have upgraded their phonics and language curriculums, are a community school and have a dedicated staff member for that along with social workers, RSL, speech therapists, Special Ed classes with amazing teachers and more. A new PTA has been created and the school also does monthly family fun nights to engage the community. We are looking forward to the next 3 years at Washington Elementary Stem Magnet.Parent Review2y ago4 Reviews - Check out schools near 1145 N Summit Ave.

"This is a very dog-friendly neighborhood. Lots of fellow dog-walkers and a nearby park. But also the occasional skunk or coyote, so you always have to be on alert. "

"We like to see other friendly dog owners getting along with other dog owners. Like how they pick up after their mess. And be respectful and kind with each other. "

"There are some areas that are less safe than others…ask your old-time neighbors. (For example, don’t walk in these streets alone or at night)."

"We live on Glen Ave which is a quiet street with really good neighbors all around. It's much more attractive and well kept than South of Washington or immediately North of Woodbury, although North of Woodbury has been gentrifying extremely rapidly especially since Covid started. There are quite a few churches and a Buddhist temple. This area is very convenient with really awesome supermarkets like Super King and Vallarta that have much better produce options than Vons or Pavilions, which are also nearby. It's extremely quick to get to Trader Joe's as well. You can easily access outdoor and water activities at the Rose Bowl, the arroyo, or Descanso Gardens and there is a 24 hour fitness at Woodbury & Lincoln if you want to stay indoors. The kids from the high school walk home through the neighborhood but they generally behave themselves and it hasn't been a problem. Street parking is easy but guests parking overnight in Pasadena need a $5 permit that you get from a kiosk at the fire station on Fair Oaks."

"Well I live in upper Altadena, but i used to live down on w mountain and I liked it there. I mean other than the “landlord” there (she’s long gone btw) , and there was the occasional parties that personally didn’t bug me but I know how it can be. But anyway Altadena is really cool and mostly quiet. And ever now and then you’ll see a couple of horseback riders which I love and I’d say that sorta unique."
