8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have two littles at Onahan and couldn’t be happier. The curriculum, the social-emotional support, and the school community and activities are outstanding. Our kids’ teachers all have great communication, go above and beyond, and truly care about the well being of the students. Our kids are have learned so much and are thriving; it’s so great they have so many friends in the neighborhood, as well!Parent Review2w ago27 Reviews - Taft High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile my experience was a bit better at high school than at grammar school, some of the things that I encountered gave me some weird vibes. One of them is that almost every time you go into the bathroom, you smell something weird, someone is doing drugs, or the bathrooms are filthier than at home. Not to mention, some weird things have happened in school, such as someone spraying liquid fart in the hallway (which is just gross), and there would be fights students would have with others over something little. That aside, they have teachers who are willing to teach, but at the same time, you will have teachers who are lazy but willing to help. Some of the policies they put into place regarding having to get a tardy slip to get into class, even if you were a few seconds late was a bit unnecessary, not to mention you would need a specific hallpass if you needed to use the bathroom (not to mention there would be times where the bathrooms were closed). I also realized that this school isn't a college prep school anymore, since more often than not, a student from Taft would graduate and go on to college, and they would struggle a lot, since the school doesn't really prepare kids for college. But otherwise, this is just your average suburban high school. You certainly can still have good experiences, though you have to be careful who you surround yourself with, as things can make a turn for the worse if you don't. Unless this is the only school you can attend, you have better options.Other Review3mo ago35 Reviews - Check out schools near 6440 W Devon Ave.

"It’s home of the 16th police district in Chicago. It’s home of the Jefferson Park train station along the Blue Line of the CTA elevated train. The Gale Street Inn is located across the street, a famous restaurant known for barbecue ribs. The Copernicus Center is around the corner from the train station which is a large Polish cultural center that used to be a cinema. Home to lots of Polish immigrants and many Polish markets and restaurants and bars. Milwaukee Avenue is prominent thoroughfare which runs North and south from downtown Chicago to suburban Wheeling and Palwaukee Airport. "

"The reason I chose this neighborhood area is safer place with cops and firemen as our neighbors. So far so good since I lived here. Nothing happened except some criminals tried to break in or stealing anything out of cars especially Amazon, UPS, FedEx packages left on porches. I, myself had no problem but who knows?? I like this neighborhood area!!"

"There are lots of block parties in our neighborhood and fun family events in the parks. We also have wonderful parades, wine and beer strolls. I’ve lived in this neighborhood since 1974. Grew up here and bought my own home here in 1991. "
