"Years of lame brain council members and past administrators incompetent. Decades of wasteful spending and bloated amounts of personnel and investment in capital items and equipment. Had a city solicitor (attorney) who got caught pilfering coffee, pencils, paper and other supplies, which made national news. Not enough focus on business development with a good amount of storefront vacancies. Nobody seems interested in civic participation unless a major issue arises. Fiscal management and planning incompetence resulted in a curtailment of projects and services and created the implementation of a garbage tax that ought to be covered by nominal taxes. Over taxed for inadequate public transportation. Water bills too high. Other than that a fairly safe neighborhood except there is a low rate of solving what little crime occurs. Schools are above average, but they always seem to be asking for levy increases. Some of the zoning is questionable. Economic dynamics in flux after the recent (2012) completion of the Route 24 by-pass. Gasoline pump prices higher than area average. Still considered by locals as a canal town though the canal was paved over for a state highway decades ago. Important decisions are made by a clique that seems rather exclusive. In spite of all that the city muddles along either by luck or the Grace of God. In some ways reminiscent of “The Twilight Zone.? "

"Great schools in the Anthony Wayne district. Easy access to two bike trails and parks. Tranquility and safety of a rural area but within five minutes by car of Fallen Timbers Mall. Beautiful area."
