3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHonestly, maybe the school just isn't for me and maybe I'm just looking for something greater, but there is nothing the school offers that makes me want to get out of bed in the morning. With peers, it's an odd situation. The only time I've found myself around people who don't mess around with their work and are genuine is when I was with the IB kids. Now that I've "moved down," it's like no one gets it. "Oh, just use A.I. for this," and "bro wdym I've failed this," and "bro no one knows how to do this essay." Mind you, it was a simple five paragraph essay. Of course, not all the students are like this (stay in Honors or above for your own sanity). Other than that, the students here aren't exactly "top notch" if that's what you're hoping for.Maybe, just maybe they really are putting in effort, but sometimes with how they act, it's so hard to feel bad for them. Some (heavy emphasis on the some) teachers are way too nice and students don't deserve them. I can see why no one wants to teach or look after them. Honestly though, not all of them are too bad. There is some* sense of community, but its based on the fact that no one wants to be at that school and that the school sucks.Anyway, this is simply my opinion, and others could say otherwise. Is the school great? Not one bit, but it's definitely an experience. I guess it depends on who you are, I suppose.Student Review1y ago15 Reviews - Rena B. Wright Primary School

"Commute is great. Many access points to various surrounding cities. You can be in Suffolk, Virginia Beach, or Newport News in about twenty minutes and to Norfolk in about ten."

"I used to live in this area and I could say that it is safe. The only thing that might bother you, is if you live close by the train tracks, train can be noisy and most of the time, ambulance & cop cars pass by portlock road."

"There are many schools in the neighborhood, for various age ranges. The area around Freeman Ave is very quiet, and subdued. It's a very nice place to live. "

"Was a little worried when I first moved into south Norfolk but I have really enjoyed the neighborhood so far. I feel comfortable walking my dog, there is a nice park near by, and my neighbor is so nice and friendly. There is a neighborhood watch group which makes me feel at ease but I have had zero problems or have felt uncomfortable even walking my dog at night. Street lights could be better but not bad. There is a dollar general within walking if I need something quick and the library is VERY nice. I like it here!"

"It's becoming more up and modern. Cleaning up the streets. More of an older crowd lives in the area. Love the older homes look on the outside but open living space on the inside. I believe the schools could be better but they are pretty decent. "

"This place is second to none, one of the best places for young children to grow up in, on top of the fact that the majority of families that live here are young families with young children some as young as 6-10 and therer are some older teens living in this area, given that people are not bias in their judgments in regards to this neighborhood nor are racist towards that people of other cultures and races and ethnicities this is a great community! whom ever chooses to live here has to know how well kept these homes are in this neighborhood, the people are friendly their children can be rowdy like any child in any neighborhood but I know all of my neighbors by name and we always have gotten along, and it's like a big huge family If you have kids this is definitely a place where you can expect your children will never be bored, there is lots of things to do here. and plenty of shopping centers all around and literally you have access to almost every highway that goes to almost every city withing a ten mile radius."
