4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDifficult because of the number of broken bones, bruises, and contusions, due to bullying/assault/battery that goes without consequences. There are more teachers in this school with advanced degrees in their subject matter than in most schools. As a parent, I would support stronger rules and expectations. My "expectation" of the school would be hardline discipline for repeat students who never get consequences, support of fine teachers, and backing by parents and students of the administration making a full, safe, quiet(in the classroom) educational environment where all children can advance academically.Parent Review5y ago - Carrysbrook Elementary

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers have limited resources, however work hard to close gaps with high energy and effort. It’s 100% SOL focused, process discipline with very little free learning. There’s severe bullying tolerance with teachers lacking effective practices of addressing it. Administrative leadership at this school is top end of terrible, very friendly but if you have any issue he will openly blame a teacher and not take any ownership in getting it resolved. Lastly don’t ever ask the bookkeeper : secretary for support, she has zero follow up skills and shows lack of respect to everyone on the staff.Parent Review1y ago - Fluvanna County High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school sucks. It’s sexist, it’s rude, it’s discriminatory. I’m so tired of it. There is a teacher here who has been ALMOST fired around ten times but he still works here. He has had so many parent complaints for being rude and derogatory towards students and he’s still allowed to teach. Their dress code is sexist, I’ve seen girls get dress coded for the smallest things and boys who low ride and wear bandanas which are banned at the school get away with it. I also know a girl who tried to get them to alter the dress code and they told her if she didn’t stop trying they’d expel her. They also do this stupid thing which I’m sure they’ll bring back post Covid where we have to wear badges with our names and faces on them, which was fine and all but you could get written up for not wearing it. Even for forgetting it at home. This school sucks if you move to the area don’t bring your kid here.Student Review2y ago - Central Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIts a small school area with only a couple hallways for children to have to navigate their first few years in school. The teachers are soft spoken, and always willing to give the students an extra hug or two if they need it.Parent Review8y ago - West Central Primary School

"I have lived here full time for 6 years, part time for 32 years. It is a gated community with its own full time police force. This basically is a retirement community that evolved into a family friendly place to live. You are a walk/bike ride from everything you need."

"The good- It is a quiet, safe friendly place to live. The schools are just OK. There are three pharmacies. The bad- you have to drive everywhere. Internet availability is spotty. There are few local employers that pay a livable wage. "
