Carrysbrook Elementary

Teachers have limited resources, however work hard to close gaps with high energy and effort. It’s 100% SOL focused, process discipline with very little free learning. There’s severe bullying tolerance with teachers lacking effective practices of addressing it. Administrative leadership at this school is top end of terrible, very friendly but if you have any issue he will openly blame a teacher and not take any ownership in getting it resolved. Lastly don’t ever ask the bookkeeper : secretary for support, she has zero follow up skills and shows lack of respect to everyone on the staff.

Most of the teachers at this school are exceptional! As in any school you will have some that aren't great, but overall we've loved 8 out of 9 teachers we've had. There is no homework, which is awesome! I've not had any experience with bullying in this school so I can't say how they'd handle it. I have children at both ends of the learning spectrum. Having one in the gifted program and one who needs a plan in place for extra breaks, moving around, standing to work, etc. The teachers have been fantastic for all types of students!

We thought switching our child to this school, after we moved, was going to be beneficial, except it’s been everything but. There’s a problem with bullying. Our child came home with fear in his eyes and pain in his side from another student bullying him on the playground, with five teachers standing around, he yells for help and nobody takes appropriate measures to stop it or correct it. Even after meeting an admin face to face about it, it was pretty much swept under the rug. Another concern we’ve had with our student at this school is that they refuse him bathroom breaks for entire school days. It’s an every day issue our child has. They also will refuse to provide our child with water if he forgot his at home. They do not seem to care about the well being of our children at all. Their safety or health. I do not recommend this school.

I would rate this school as being excellent in all areas!

My daughter loved Central Elementary but she hated this school. Some of the 3rd grade teachers would constantly yell at the kids. We moved during the school year and I emailed the principal my concerns for the kids in this classroom. I never received any response at all.
