1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageToday was my daughter's first day at this school. She transferred from Lufkin rd middle in Apex. I really wish she could have stayed there. So we walked in the office and was not acknowledged. I stood at the counter while 3 women were on the computer trying to figure something out. After 5 mins of me standing there, one of them finally asked me how can they help me. They didnt seem friendly at all. My child and I didn't feel welcomed. In all we waited around 30 mins just to get her schedule printed out. And when thd receptionist finally gave us the schedule she addressed my daughter as a boy!!!! I found that very disrespectful. They were very unorganized and not on one accord. The faculty was literally all over the place. Everyone waiting was very frustrated. But moving along...Lets talk about the appearance of the school. The grass wasn't cut, there are dead flowers in the flower pots, vines growing up the walls of the buildings, and bushes that need trimming very badly. There was a teacher outside pulling weeds from a flower pot as we walked by, leaving dry dirt all over the ground. I did not want to leave my baby at this school. She cried as she was walking away to go to class. I really thought this school was going to be decent. I shouldve read the reviews. I didn't see any kids happy or smiling. They all seemed aggravated. The Wakefield schools are located in the heart of a beautiful and supportive community in north Raleigh. There are numerous rigorous course offerings and more club offerings than you can count. They ranked in the top 4% in the state for student academic growth. The sports programs are solid and often times also top ranking at the district and state level. Overall, very happy with Wakefield High and look forward to the rest of our kids being Wolverines soon!Parent Review2y ago
