3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers: Some were fine, and some were not. It was a mixed bag. Some will not leave their personal, political, social views at home. It's unprofessional. My son was subjected to frequent, time-consuming lectures from teachers about how that teacher was against marriage, they'd give the class bad financial advice, they'd brag about themselves, another would display controversial flags which do not represent all students..- all which had nothing to do with the curriculum. The building: It was built in the 1930s and is not earthquake safe. I'm glad they're almost done with the new middle school building in West Provo. I have respect for and enjoy old buildings, but I don't like my kids going to school in one that isn't safe. I'm glad my youngest won't have to go to the Dixon building. The boys had no locker room-they had been banned from having one years ago. Now that the kids are out, the superintendent declared the gym to be unsafe (I guess they were crossing their fingers when the students were in there??) What people say: In our neighborhood over the years, I used to hear parents and kids say how much they liked Dixon. Then that started to change in the last few years- many people told me how it is going downhill. And after experiencing it as a parent, I was not surprised at all that Great Schools scored it as a 2/10.The bottom line: Yes, they're building a new school (Shoreline Middle), which is great, but the people in it will be the same. Proceed with caution.Parent Review1y ago4 Reviews - Provo High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s good if your a goody two shoes and faced student. And if you have rich parents to pay for every cent of your lunch money. Administration is bad if you have encountered students that try to get off on a technicality when you are bullied by them. I’ve had to file a harassment complaint against 2 people within the school at my time there years ago. Administration and one welding teacher denied they were a threat at all. In regards to special education they don’t help you at all in regards to passing back into general education. Just random assignments and tests rigged to the point where psychologists can label you until you graduate somehow with 27 credits.Other Review1y ago9 Reviews - Amelia Earhart School

"It’s quiet, but full of friendly people. You can veer to know your neighbors and for the most part people around here stay a long time. It’s not quite the country, but you’re far enough away from the city to miss a lot of the ruckus. Walking distance to church, and school, and so close to the lake and river. "

"Provo, like all cities, has it's safe and not safe areas. This specific area is safe. The people are nice and it's a great, well-kept neighborhood. The Provo Trail is beautiful and clean. The Frontrunner station is close by and very convenient. I love the new Provo Recreation Center. It's affordable and BIG! We have so much fun there. Traffic in Orem and Provo is a complete nightmare and the driver's are worse. Families here tend to have a average of 6-10 children. With so many different colleges, including BYU close by, there are students from all over the world here. Which means too much traffic and terrible drivers. Even with the many students living here, there's not a lot of diversity here. The number one thing I don't like about this area is that other than go to church, I find a hard time finding fun things to do. If you want to go to a movie, you need to buy tickets at least 2 days in advance and drive to Orem. The Provo Center Mall is open on Sunday but it's small. The BIG mall in Orem is closed on Sundays. There's a gas station close by, which is nice. There's no such thing as making a quick trip to the grocery store as it's quite the drive. (The good news is that a Dollar Store and other stores are being built on Center Street.) But there's no "nightlife" and/or entertainment here. "
