UPDATE: Ashlee Simpson and hubby Evan Ross have sold this spread in West Hollywood — at a loss. The couple purchased it less than three years ago for $1.359 million and sold it in June 2015 for just $1.25 million.
2014 was a big year for newlyweds Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross. After a picture-perfect wedding in August at the sprawling Connecticut estate of the groom’s mother, Diana Ross, they hit the red carpet for the premiere of Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 to support Evan’s role as “Messalla.” (Evan took on the admittedly small role because Mama Ross was a big fan of the books.) And now they’re ringing in 2015 with a rumored move on the horizon.
Last month, the West Hollywood home once owned by Diana went on the market. The 1950s post-and-beam–style home, which has two beds and two baths, was purchased by the legendary Supremes singer back in December 2012. The 1,686-square-foot modern pad went for $1,359,000 back then, but it’s on the market for $1,499,000 now. The property is complete with a sexy stone bath and even its own entry into the backyard, which boasts a sparkling pool and spa, barbecue, and Zen-like koi pond. (Diana also owns a home in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles, in case she feels like belting out some tunes for the beachgoers.)
So the question remains: Is the house on the market the one where Ashlee and Evan have been living? When Diana bought the house originally in 2012, two documents were filed: one that put it in Evan’s name and another that passed the property from him over to a trust. Is this a case of a Hollywood kid selling off the home gifted by Mom, or is it merely a play for more privacy in the form of a business transaction?
What we do know is that Ashlee is currently expecting another little tyke (she has one son, Bronx Mowgli, named for a borough of New York and a character from the Jungle Book, with ex-husband Pete Wentz). So maybe the happy couple is looking to expand their “Baby Love” to a new home.
