What Locals Say about West End

  • Trulia User
"I don’t have pets but that does not mean that I do not love. I’m friendly with pets more especially dogs."
  • Trulia User
"People walk their dog many times a day freely; they also pick up after they dogs. I don’t know what dogs owner doesn’t like about living in our neighborhood "
  • Trulia User
"There are not great stocked poop bag stations and trash cans however there are great parks to take dogs."
  • Snewsted
"Close to the heart of the city with the peace and quiet of a nice suburban neighborhood. There are several restaurants and bars within walking distance and it is about 5 minutes from the arts district. Dog friendly streets are safe for walks."
  • Lance B.
"I can look at the place as soon as possible good day REI location pretty cool building okay have a good day"
  • Snewsted
"I don’t participate in neighborhood events very often. I usually don’t know when they are happening until they are already taking place. I see a lot of protests, marches, and parades from my kitchen window. There is also the monthly art walk which is a fun event to bring guests to and shop for holiday gifts. "
  • Shelby N.
"I commute to Freeport so I have to get on to 295. There are multiple ways I can go, each with pros and cons. There is a lot of traffic in the morning but it’s much worse in the evening. It takes me twice as long to get home as it does to get to work. "
  • Shelby N.
"There is a lack of space for the dogs in the small apartments in this area. Also there are always a few bums hanging around outside that might bother people when they walk their dogs. There also aren’t many parks around. A positive note is that there are lots of great pet stores in the area, each with a friendly and helpful staff. There are lots of things to see and do including dog friendly breweries if you’re up for an adventure."

"The West End is an awesome place to live and work. The historic character and walkable design make this a unique neighborhood. There are lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and markets in the West End and the Downtown Arts District and Old Port are a short walk away."
