Hillside Academy

Finding Hillside was life changing for our 7th grader & our family! Our son had lost interest in school but Hillside reawakened his curiosity and love for learning. He enjoyed going to school each day. The teachers truly care about every student and create a positive culture for all. He learned much more than academics and graduated a wiser, more well rounded person.

This school gets my children excited about learning. This is crucial in the early K-5 grades and again especially in middle school before the transition to high school. One of the ways this excitement is brought into the classroom is through special projects. For example, our middle school science teacher had her students build and fly a drone but she also had them write about the scientists and science they are learning about. In both endeavors, one must make use of "claim, evidence, and reasoning". This ability to integrate domain knowledge from one area to another is something Hillside is uniquely positioned to do given the small class sizes and cooperation between the teachers. Smaller classes also allow for more flexibility in tailoring learning to the students' interests. (parent and school volunteer)

Both our boys have loved Hillside Academy! The way they have prospered with the small class sizes, amazingly kind teachers, and ability to teach to the student and not the grade! Hillside Academy is truly the best kept private school secret in the Valley…your kids will love it as ours have!

Hillside has just been a fantastic experience. The staff are really supportive, the projects and curriculum are creative and engaging and on top of that they have a great community.Whether you're coming from Redmond, Bothell or Monroe area, it's a pretty quick drive and well worth it.

Hillside is just a gem of a school - best kept secret in Snoqualmie Valley. We have two children at Hillside after spending their kindergarten year at Stillwater Elementary. Stillwater was a fine experience but there is a much more enriching and supportive environment at Hillside and my children are surrounded by other bright, good character kids. My wife and I love it and so do our children.
