6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a substitute teacher at this school and let me tell you that is OUTSTANDING in every aspect. The kids are kind to each other and the teachers are kind to the kids. I was there for 3rd grade and the students are for certain where they should be academically. The one negative comment is from someone's experience almost 10 years ago and the Principal is new and loved by all of the teachers I talked to. She is highly intelligent and she is an outstanding educator for certain. Guaranteed she and her staff have boosted property values in that neighborhood!Teacher Review1mo ago - Woodrow Wilson School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from Texas in 2019 leaving a school system with Master Degree teachers, exceptional Reading Recovery for our child with dyslexia, lower than average student teacher ratios. We toured the Salt Lake public school system and recognized the challenges and short comings our kids would face. After visiting all of the private institutions within a 15 mile radius we landed on Carden. Fell in love on the tour and have never been disappointed. Outstanding teachers, classical education, small student teacher ratio, our kids have developed deep and healthy relationships with their peers and faculty, there is a focus on character, values, integrity, respect, faith, history, good literature, classical music, performing/speaking and developing their unique gifts. They have learned to ski, attend high adventures river rafting and camping in Yellowston, participating in a two week American History Tour of Washington DC and the surrounding states. Our first has matriculated to high school and began as a freshman in sophomore honors math. One area of opportunity would be science curriculum. In addition, in Texas we had dedicated reading recovery staff as a core resource, here we have had to pay out of pocket for a specialist who has been amazing. Could not ask for a better educational foundation to prepare children for success in academics and life.Parent Review1mo ago - Headstart-Presch Sp Ed

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a good school for kids that are academic oriented. We transferred our kid during COVID, due to public schools being locked down and students falling behind, so our experience is limited to 5th grade and middle school, however, our student is really thriving at this school overall, and adjusted well socially and academically. One thing we appreciate about Challenger is that they teach the kids to be self-driven and self-sufficient, and to take charge of their responsibilities, including homework and projects. The second thing we appreciate is that learning is primarily taking place in the classroom, they get homework but end up doing it quicker, there is less nagging at home about it, which is great, in contrast to some of our previous public school experience. Being efficient at these two fronts means more efficient use of learning time, which means more time for extracurricular activities (my son does sports almost every day after school). We are very happy with our school choice so far.Parent Review1y ago
