Read what parents are saying about Evangel Christian AcademyEvery encounter with the students is toxic. They say racial slurs and hate speech. Don't expose your kids to this school.
Posted by a community member on 2/1/2020This has been the worst school, I would recommend that you try other schools and exhaust all other options before considering sending your children to this school. My children went to this school for a few years and I thought they would be more advanced when moving to a public school, however, they are struggling with public schooling which should be easier. The way that this school treated my children and dealt with issue that came up does not reflect how Christians should treat others. If I did not have a relationships with God prior to sending my children to this school, I might not have one after dealing with this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/22/2018Wonderful environment with teachers who care about the students and small class sizes
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2018My kids have attended 1 full calendar yer. I wanted to pull them out due to the limited competitive attitude they have. They are very laid back when it comes to sports and look at more for fun than a competition. My daughter is perusing to play basketball at higher levels. However, when i told her I wanted to pull her out and put her in hope she kicked and screamed and said she loves the school the teachers everything. Also, my middle daughter was behind on reading her teacher spent HOURS a week bringing her up to speed for no extra cost just to get her caught up.
Posted by a parent on 8/16/20179 MAJOR ISSUES WITH THIS SCHOOL: 1) Grades are combined due to low enrollment and the school can't afford separate grades. But the educational model is not set up to succeed this way. Kids are not getting the time and attention they need in the combined classroom setting. 2) Antiquated mentality about discipline: Follow rules and get ignored. Break rules and get punished. There is no real teaching about how to get along and why rules are followed. The bible is simply another subject - it's not applied or modeled in every day interactions, socialization, and problem solving. Students may learn scripture, but they aren't taught Christian behavior. 3) Bullying, hitting, name calling, intimidation, etc., are largely ignored. There is NO "Character Counts" program or anti-bullying plan. 4) There are no gifted/remedial programs. Advanced students will be bored or moved up an entire grade (whether they are mature enough or not). Remedial learners will fail or be held back. 5) There is NOT ENOUGH physical activity! Elementary students have 1 recess daily and PE twice a week. Recess is considered a "privilege" for good behavior and is often taken away for punishment. If a student loses recess on a non-PE day, they will get NO EXERCISE at school all day. 6) Art, music, and PE programs are POOR. Music class is a couple times per week, but the students aren't taught to read music or play instruments. Art class= making crafts. PE is a time for older students to hang out and elementary students play tag. There is no PE equipment/education. 8) NO PARENT ORGANIZATION. The administration doesn't involve parents, solicit feedback, or regularly inform families about decisions that directly impact families. They DON'T WANT parent involvement. Administration makes decisions in a vacuum, then lets parents know at the last minute (combining the grades, closing the cafeteria, changing from classroom teaching to an online program, etc.). 9) In addition to the approx. $500 annual fee and $5k - $7k tuition, there are numerous "fundraisers" throughout the year. Every fundraiser is "for school improvements and technology," but the administration NEVER communicates how much money was raised and there's no info or evidence about how and where fundraising money was used. Where does all the money go?There's a reason why enrollment is low and students don't return.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is in BIG trouble overall. Many of the good teachers have left due to lack of support from the Leadership there aka: Hannah - Principal. She is in need of serious help and guidance. She has no clue how to lead and run a school of this nature. The teachers I have experienced there did their best with little to no support. Many of the strong ones have gone elsewhere. How much worse do things need to get there for removal of and replacement of a different leader to get things corrected?? Please Superintendent of schools!!! School board! ETC> ETC> Get someone to that school before someone is badly hurt!!!Parent Review6mo ago - Hodgin Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is very caring and responsive to student and family needs. The academic curriculum is well rounded and many resources are available to help students learn. A genuine love for God is shown through singing songs of praise, teaching how to relate to others well and regular school assemblies of which prayer is an important part as well as an excellent Bible curriculum. The teachers and staff are very dedicated to serving with the love of God.Parent Review3mo ago - Queen Of Heaven School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average"Hired" for teaching science but quickly discovered they wanted a baby sitter, not a teacher. First clue was when they switched books mid-quarter. Most students had dismal math skills and with no prerequisites, they struggled with fundamentals. Second clue surfaced when no course standard could be found. The school had no standard. The accrediting agency had no standard. And State standards did not apply to a private school. Therefore, anything could be taught for high school graduation. Ironically, the school was applying for dual-credit status where a course would count as college credit for those who wanted to pay for it. In practice, teaching an AP level curriculum to some while instructing others in rudimentary math would have been impossible. In addition, sports took priority - pulling students from class, keeping them out late and missing class the next day, and injuries requiring doctor visits during class time. I lasted six weeks but the die had already been cast. Most students were granted mask and vaccine waivers, thus alienating students under restrictions. One student was clinically depressed, another had Lupus, and a third hyper-sensitive to noise. Achievement goals of the school listed on the website are outstanding ... if only the administration followed them. I am now tutoring students struggling in various classes at this school. I am a retired military officer, retired STEM educator, and > 1800 tutoring hours. I volunteer and never took a penny.Other Review2y ago
