Read what parents are saying about Grace AcademyUnfortunately the administration has a different view of Christian behavior than most would agree with. They can be very unforgiving, judgmental, condemning and show favoritism. Students are demeaned and disrespected frequently. Extracurricular opportunities are extremely limited. Parents are discouraged from participating. It is a very close-minded and backward looking school.
Posted by a parent on 4/26/2021Grace Academy is a small private school that, considering it's size, has a lot to offer: Amazing student/teacher ratio, warm family environment, small classes, caring teachers who know each student, administration who truly care about the students, very flexible college-like class schedule, enough sports for a child to find something to enjoy (and meet other students), performance arts, creative art classes, a chance for every student to feel noticed, and valued for who they are. At Grace, you will find students from many different backgrounds, but what they all have in common is a strong focus on education plus their shared faith. There is no "slippage" at this school. The school day is condensed into what would be considered half days at other schools. There are no Friday classes. It may be important to note that this school expects very good behavior from their students, after all it's a small school and nothing goes unnoticed. But if your children can stand up to that challenge (it's expected in the real working world anyway) you and they'll be happy. Our family feels very comfortable here and our children have thrived at Grace Academy.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved to Matthews from California after unexpectedly losing my husband. The staff embraced my family and gave my 3 boys the emotional support they needed during an extremely difficult time. One teacher was determined my twins received the speech therapy they needed even though we were denied repeatedly. We left what was considered a great school in California. I honestly felt Matthews Elementary gave my children an education comparable to a private school. Now all three children have a college education. One is getting his master’s and another his doctorate. I would 100% recommend this wonderful school and its loving community.Parent Review5mo ago - Elizabeth Lane Elementary

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child does not fit the perfect, neurotypical mold don’t send them here. The EC staff is great, but the teachers we’ve had are consistently overly harsh. One teacher here is known to openly make fun of students in class without any reprimand. It’s not a warm, nurturing school for children especially for those with learning differences. Expect to constantly feel your child is a bother to them if they have to go out of their way at all to meet needs in the classroom. This school is about the numbers, for sure not about a love of learning.Parent Review1y ago - Socrates Academy

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSocrates Academy is an excellent community charter school. Our son had an excellent middle school experience here. The school has a small community feel where students can participate in a wide range of activities. Greek culture and language is central to the school’s identity but all cultures and ethnicities are welcomed.Parent Review1mo ago - Covenant Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCovenant Day School has been a wonderful blessing to our family. The school community, faculty, and students hold true to a biblical worldview, academic excellence, and servant mentality. We deeply appreciate the school providing our children with such a Christ-centered approach. The main reason we chose CDS is having a desire for our children to learn the Bible to its core and apply it to all areas of their life. The teachers have a heart for God and their work. Our daughter every year says, I have the best teacher this year! But really, they all are the best. The leaders are unmatched, and despite all they have going on, they always make time for parents and students and never make you feel like like are too busy. The admissions office, is incredibly organized and also very personal, and knows each child by name and really knows them! We are honored and thrilled to be a part of the Covenant Day School Community.Parent Review2y ago - Carmel Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe math department is terrible. My junior and senior year of high school, I took AP Calculus and AP Statistics, respectively. Both of these years, the school found a teacher last minute who was extremely unqualified to be teaching an AP class. In Calculus, 80% of the class failed to pass the AP exam. Right now in Statistics, we have only covered one and a half of NINE total units by the time of midterm exams in December. Other schools are on Unit 5 while we are still in Unit 2. I am frustrated that we had to pay extra money to attend a private school and take high level classes just to not get taught what I need to enhance my education. The math department has been in shambles for two years and I presume it will stay that way for some time to come, so be warned.Student Review4mo ago - Fletcher School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey mislead parents and advise their ratio is 6:1. It is not. They are changing the schedule for the 23-24 school year to have academics in the afternoon for very young children all for the money and the benefit of a handful of high school students. Please be aware of this before sending your child here. They are loosing staff because administrators are cruel and personally attack teachers for standing up for what is right.Teacher Review10mo ago - Shands School
