Read what parents are saying about German International School ChicagoReally lovely school educating children with a mix of American, German and international baccalaureate curriculum. My child is in a class with both german speakers and english speakers. I plan to send my child here year after year.
Posted by a parent on 2/9/2023We have been at GISC for 12 years and continue to be impressed with the academic rigor, supportive administration, and sense of community at the school. My children have grown academically and socially and are well prepared for high school.

Posted by a parent on 9/5/2018I highly recommend this school to international-minded, compassionate, smart, and genuine people. Our experience over the last two years has been great. The staff, director, and board of trustees, teachers and parents are so committed to this very special school. And it is just that - a very special school. Beyond a top notch education, a bilingual education, personal attention, and small classes, German International School Chicago provides an amazing community for the children and the parents. The families are smart, hard-working, loving, nurturing, caring, international-minded, compassionate, interesting and genuine. It's actually amazing how much in common there is among the families, despite them coming from all over the world and speaking different languages. I know my children are safe and very cared for if ever under the supervision of other families. (And I am not a particularly trusting person, especially when it comes to my children.)With respect to the international community and bilingual education - it is so neat! My Chicago born and raised 5-year old child (raised in an English-speaking household) is fluent in German now and is translating for new students just learning German. Also, my child's best friend is a German native speaker. As a result of their close friendship, they each learned the other's language better and more quickly than they may have otherwise. This is really a great school, where you learn both English and German, as well as other languages. For people who do not have a particular connection to German, keep in mind that German is spoken in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and that Germany has the largest economy in Europe. Further, it just happens to be the primary language used in the school. So many families also speak Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and other languages. Many of the children are actually trilingual, and that is before they start to formally study French in school (3rd grade, I believe).I know this is definitely the school for my family and I hope that my children will graduate high school from German International School Chicago with an IB diploma.
Posted by a parent on 11/16/2016My advice is don't send your kids there. For me it is a bunch of respectless managers which don't value you or your kid. I belive that some managers and board members did found the school to promote and celebrate themselves instead of giving your child an excellent education. It seemd that they were lieing right into my face. In my opinion they charge a lot for very poor quality. They also try to hide incidents like a kid did hurt an other kid during school several times. The family did left the school because they were not able to stop this behavior. I wouldn't recommend this school to anybody who loves and or care about his kid.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDear parents, please stop opting your kids out of the IAR test. The low IAR participation rate is what is leading to such a low score for Blaine on this website. This website's scores are used on the redfin website (and probably other similar sites) so these low scores could impact your and my house value. My two kids are proud alums of Blaine, and we all know this isn't an accurate representation of the quality of our school.Parent Review1y ago - Courtenay Elementary Language Arts Center

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchool places strong emphasis on academic excellence, including regular homework assignments, weekly quizzes and tests. Teachers are involved and very supportive,. New principal - Mr. Guerrero is successful in promoting academic discipline and parents' involvement. There is a zero-tolerance policy on bullying. My two children attend Ravenswood Elementary and I have seen steady improvement in school's academic ranking over the years.Parent Review1y ago - Chicago Montessori

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter has been at North Park since Kindergarten and she skips into school every day with a big smile on her face. The school staff are warm, and welcoming and bring their expertise to ensure the kids are engaged and supported through their educational journeys. I know they are setting kids up to be successful, questioning, kind, and involved high schoolers, community members, and beyond. We feel lucky to be part of the NPES family.Parent Review4mo ago - Pilgrim Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePilgrim is a small school with small class sizes. There are many positives to being part of a school this small. Pilgrim offers a great sense of community. The parents, children and some of the teachers and staff make pilgrim a great place. Pilgrim does not have the basic resources that you would find in most schools. Pilgrim does not have a gym, recess past the 4th grade, a library, tech classes etc. Some teachers are difficult to work with and the more you question, the more difficult they will become for you and your child. There is no real leadership for teachers, students or parents to consult, making the toxicity next level. The pastor is not engaged in the religious aspects of the school and has done nothing in the 10 years he had been with pilgrim to grow the church community.Parent Review1y ago - Our Lady Of Lourdes
