I cannot imagine a worse school than this one.I’ve sent my child here for a while until I started noticing some disturbing issues and moved on to another school. My child was not the only one that had this experience. These issues are not related to any particular teacher (some are better/worse than others). It’s more of an institutional issue. Personally, I think Aisha McLorin, who runs the school, is a sad person that hates children and happens to have inherited the school from her family, and runs the school with a culture of fear (staff is really afraid of using common sense and therefore contradicting the nonsensical school policies). This school does not want parents to get involved at all. Your job as a parent is to drop/pickup, and once per quarter you’ll have a 10 minute Zoom with the teacher to get “feedback” on how your kid is doing. If any issues arise that you as parent want to discuss, the school won’t let you chat with your child’s teacher without an appointment and would not give you an appointment right away. Sometimes it would take weeks for a Zoom appointment, or months for an in-person meeting. In the meetings, the tone of the school is best described as confrontational. The infrastructure of South Campus is embarrassing, and the school quite frankly cuts corners in safety standards, including sanitation. For example, the school does not spend money in mosquito control services. Students get routinely bitten by mosquitoes, and school response to parents concerns was simply to “cover arms/legs” and “apply bug repellent”. There’s no security guard on duty, no surveillance cameras, etc. There has also been significant turnover with good teachers leaving the institution and many unprepared and inexperienced ones taking over.I could go and go with anecdotes. My advice to parents reading this is to avoid this school. French is a beautiful language, but it’s not worth putting your child through this. There are other ways to learn French in a loving, safe, fun, intellectually stimulating environment.

My son just finished the first year at the French American School and we can't say enough wonderful things about the caring staff and his absolutely fabulous teacher, Daniel!! My son entered school in August at three years old and did not speak a word of french. Ten months later, he is fluent! And neither my husband or I speak more than a few words in French. Through out the school year, the class went on several interesting field trips including the zoo, Pinecrest Gardens, a clay studio and a tour of Publix! My son thrived in this school and absolutely adores his teacher and the new friends he has made. :-)))

The French American School of Miami is a wonderful tihjtknit school. The warm and acring environment fosters learning. The classes are small and the school feel like a family. Both my sons started without knowing a word of French and are both now fluent although we don't speak French at home. It really is one of the best kept secrets in Miami. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The French American School of Miami is by far the best option if you want your kids to be educated as if they lived in France. They will become open minded, well rounded, and incredibly fluent in French. In 4th and 5th grade, they go through stuff American school only address during high school. My two kids (16 and 18) are what they thanks to Lena and her school.

This school is absolutely wonderful. The teachers are European and administration really holds true to the French way. If you'd like your children to speak fluent French and be taught to view the world comment un francais, I can't recommend this place enough. Our son was treated very well by loving teachers and the only reason we had to leave was because we moved.
