Read what parents are saying about Harmony DC Public Charter SchoolsI would recommend Harmony to parents who are looking forward to their children getting a positive and engaging education. The teachers always respond to questions and concerns parents have and they give detailed reports on their students learning. Teachers always engage with the parents and take a lot of time out to care for the students. My son started out in Prek-4 and has flourished into kindergarten. He has been through a lot with this learning and the harmony staff were there for him the whole journey. My daughter who is in 4th grade has made it to Harmony’s honor society for excelling in her grades, this schools STEMs practices have made it possible for her to receive such an honor. Her teachers are very patient with her learning style and even let us know how she can improve. Both my son and daughter love coming to school. This school has checked off all of my concerns as a parent. Looking forward to many more school years with them.
Posted by a community member on 6/12/2023My child has attended Harmony DC for the past 5 years. When starting kindergarten, she was a struggling reader. After exiting kindergarten she had become a flourishing reader and writer, still a work in progress. By the end of 2nd grade she was reading on a 4th grade level. I attributed most of her success to the school and teachers. My child's teachers set the bar high. She has become a studious student who is willing to take on new challenges of her own. While no school is perfect, I believe Harmony has fostered relationships with its parents to become a great school. This helps when dealing with issues as they arise. I have never been disrespected or felt unheard. Harmony is a small school which I like. It gives the parents, teachers, and faculty the ability to get to know each family by name, address issues effectively, as well as share new ideas. It has a since of community and that is important for us. They make us feel like we matter. The majority of the teachers my child has had in the past have been teachers with tenure that are well versed in the curriculum. It was crucial for us to have consistency and cohesiveness. Harmony is a STEM focused school and this is wonderful because the world is ever changing and it is imperative that children are knowledgable about technology in order to compete with others. Harmony offers that. While writing this review, it is also important to note that as a parent I expect the school to give her the tools needed for success, but I am also realistic, it is a priority for me to be just as involved and supportive of the school and her studies. I express my concerns in a respectable manner when needed, give praises when they are do, and offer help when I can. Schools can't be great schools on their own. They have to have the support of families, teachers, faculty and the community they serve.
Posted by a parent on 2/19/2021I currently have 2 children in Harmony, as well as 2 that have graduated from Harmony. We have found our school home! The teachers and administrators at Harmony are dedicated, not just to the kids' education, but to their development and growth as individuals. When you send your child to Harmony DCPCS you are going to gain an entire community willing to help you fight whatever barriers exist that will hinder your child's ability to thrive! Class sizes are great, no one has to compete for time or attention with the teachers. Student discipline is addressed, not just punished. I am secure in the knowledge that my kids are safe and respected (as individuals) when they enter Harmony. But the #1 plus for me.... my children are excited to go to school EVERY day!
Posted by a parent on 1/6/2021It's a great feeling to know that I am making a difference when I come to school. We work really hard to provide the best education we can and I am proud to be a part of this school.
Posted by a teacher on 4/6/2018My twins love this school. I wish they had a middle school. The teachers really care and the kids really learn. This is one of the best schools in Washington Dc.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son had seizures a few times at school. Teachers and school staff REFUSED to give him his medication to stop seizure. When I brought this up to the principal, she did not even bother to respond. I made a complain to the charter school Board and was told there was nothing they can do. Both the charter school board and my pediatrician advised me to sue two rivers. My pediatrician and the neurologist both called the school and two rivers still refused to give my son his medication. They put children’s life in danger. They should not be allowed to operate. The only reason I let this go was we had a family death and did not have the mental capacity to deal with two rivers. If they put a child’s life in danger and completely did not care, can you imagine they would care about anything else? Child protection service should investigate the school and they should be shut down for this reckless behavior.Parent Review2y ago - Mundo Verde Bilingual PCS

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is very poorly run and is disorganized and lacks basic communication with families and teachers. There is no active coaching for teachers. They have a crazy turnover rate and have no plan in place to keep good teachers. There is no social emotional support for students or tier one behavior protocols. Incidents would happen and admin would ignore the issues at hand and refuse to talk to families. I would not recommend this school to anyone.Other Review8mo ago - Langley Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall our experience has been great. The teachers truly go the extra mile for all the students, regardless of whether they are behind or advanced. Most of the kids in my child's class are right on grade level and there is also an advanced reading group. My child has loved all of the teachers and also loves the family events. We are so excited and proud to be part of a school that is improving.Parent Review4y ago - KIPP DC - Grow Academy PCS

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter 6 years at ITDS this will be our last. When our youngest started the school felt like an oasis in a sea of mediocre public and charter schools. Now sadly it simply is not what it was. Teacher retention is abysmal, discipline problems are common, students are just generally not motivated to learn especially by the middle school grades. There are some fantastic teachers who are really trying to be creative but thats unfortunately balanced out by inexperienced and under qualified instructors who can’t manage the classrooms.Parent Review3mo ago - Friendship PCS Armstrong
