9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTam High has the best programs- better than my college back in the early 70s! The parents are involved, the community is involved- a lot of very talented people live in Mill Valley and they do provide support to the school. My son just graduated and was a top student- there are a lot of top students since the parents mostly are successful yet accessible- not snobby or as class conscious as some other top schools in Marin (although there is a moneyed crowd). Colleges I spoke to have said that Tam is "a competitive high school." So it is well thought of by college admissions. There are programs well funded by the affluent parents. The music program and mock trial for example are top award winners year after year. And the kids are just really nice. They grow uo fast around here, so some kids have to be watched but the school has great support for students such as ADHD types and they learn a lot. But it is not very insulated from realities of pot, etc. But crime isn't an issue. My second will start there in the fall.Parent Review9y ago - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is great school for many reasons. The teachers care, the families are kind and down to earth, and it’s one of the few places in Marin where kids aren’t segregated by race and/or income. If there’s one thing you can do to improve our local community as parent living in Sausalito, it’s to save yourself $40k+ on private school and opt in to being part of a completely normal public school. It is what you make of it, and it’s been wonderful for us so far.The high-level district leadership has been a hot mess historically—that’s true. But that’s a symptom of lack of engagement and misplaced fear from the wealthier community that can opt out, and I see that changing in the right direction every day. There’s a lot of room for folks to get involved and continue to improving the high-level stuff. And I can assure you the teaching staff is doing great work every day already. That hot-take one-star review I read here is totally out of line and just that—a hot take. I wouldn’t think much of it.Other Review3mo ago - Check out schools near 211 South St #A.

"It’s a great neighborhood to walk in but there are not a lot of sidewalks. So you have to constantly listen for cars, which unfortunately are often driven too fast without a lot of considerations for pedestrians.. "

"I've lived in this neighborhood for 5 years. I'm looking to move into a larger house and I know I want to stay in Sausalito. It's convenient to get to central and northern Marin as well as close enough to SF. Having the water so close by is wonderful!"

"Lots of fun kiddo things to do. Bad grade school (K-5th) public schools. The middle school and high schools are in the next city up ( one exit) and are quite good. Otherwise, the southern marin mothers group is very active here for noms of young kids and there are several fantastic private school for all educational philosophies. Overall, a great city for kids. Lots of tourist activity, but strong neighbor support. Lots of parks public spaces and restaurants that are kid friendly. "
