This is great school for many reasons. The teachers care, the families are kind and down to earth, and it’s one of the few places in Marin where kids aren’t segregated by race and/or income. If there’s one thing you can do to improve our local community as parent living in Sausalito, it’s to save yourself $40k+ on private school and opt in to being part of a completely normal public school. It is what you make of it, and it’s been wonderful for us so far.The high-level district leadership has been a hot mess historically—that’s true. But that’s a symptom of lack of engagement and misplaced fear from the wealthier community that can opt out, and I see that changing in the right direction every day. There’s a lot of room for folks to get involved and continue to improving the high-level stuff. And I can assure you the teaching staff is doing great work every day already.That hot-take one-star review I read here is totally out of line and just that—a hot take. I wouldn’t think much of it.

The school is going to lots of changes and for the past 3 years I’ve been quite happy with the environment. When Marin has a lack of diversity issue in schools, this is the most diverse school. The classes are small and kids get a lot of individual attention.

Terrible school! Don't send your kid here!

We have lived in this community for 5 years, there have been MAYOR changes in our local school. Our oldest is in first grade and has been there since Kinder and our twins are in TK (transitional kinder). In full transparency we were hesitant about the school because it has gone through a desegregation ordered and a difficult superintendent and (past) school board. Fortunately we have been pleasantly surprised. The school community is amazing and the only integrated and diverse school in Marin County. The teachers and staff are PHENOMENAL and also highly diverse. Our first grader has already scored above the National levels in math and reading. Our three kids LOVE going to school and staying at the FREE after school program & vacation camps. Hopefully our school’s negative perception goes away…although I will also say I love our small close knit community that for now it feels like a true hidden gem that we feel lucky to belong to. PS. The social emotional learning is through the Kimochis program and is amazing. My kids come home and say things like “you can be made but you can’t be mean”.
