6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been nothing but pleased by Murray Manor. It is our neighborhood school and my son has been attending since Kindergarten (now in 3rd). While no school is perfect, this is a really great neighborhood school. Here are a few things that I have found special about this school. 1. Parents care deeply about their kids. People are really nice and appropriately involved. There does not seem to be competition among parents that I have heard about in other schools. It feels like every parent is rooting for the success of every child at the school. Parents help out and volunteer when they can. 2. The kids are nice kids. We had one issue with a kid picking on my son, but by in large it is the exception and not the rule. The kids are well mannered and respectful for the most part. 3. It is a diverse school, which I think adds a lot to learning. Many students are from different socio-economic groups and backgrounds. There is no typical students but a beautiful blend of cultures and ideas. I love that you can hear several different languages on campus! 4. The teachers are fantastic! Everyone seems to have a different favorite teacher, but so far, they have all been great. They care deeply about their profession and their students. The teachers work as a team and know all the kids in their grade. I have long felt that La Mesa is a hidden gem in San Diego. Murray Manor is one of the reasons that I love my neighborhood so much!Parent Review4y ago - Parkway Middle School

"I work in La Jolla and the commute is bad. It takes 25 minutes without traffic, but it ranges from 1 hr to 1 1/2 hours each way when I’m aiming to fit a 9-5 routine. I have to leave my house near Lake Murray at 6 am every day to avoid traffic, beware of this."

"I have a short 8 minute commute where I don't have to use the freeway at all. It's great! Otherwise it can be a tad busy in the mornings from 7:30-8:30am and in the evenings from 5-6pm in weekdays. But nothing too bad."

"I bought in to this neighborhood a year ago because it is eclectic and a good value. not a subdivision where the houses are all similar, we have a lot of neighbors who have lived there most of their lives."

"When we first moved to La Mesa, I wasn’t sure I liked it. The main streets aren’t all that pedestrian-friendly but parking in Downtown La Mesa can be a pain. Now that I’ve been here two years and know my frequent routes well, I really love it. The playgrounds are great for my toddlers. And for a family Sunday we have great options in Lake Murray, Cowles Mtn, Mt Helix, and Santee Lakes all just a few minutes away. The 4th of July fireworks are awesome. It really is a great place to raise a family. "
